Why does wood float!!!!!?

  1. It floats not because it WEIGHS less per unit but because its DENSITY is less per unit than that of water.

    If it was weight how would ships or bananas float...? ;)


  2. Because it weighs less than the amount of substance (water) it displaces. Or, it has a lower density than water.

  3. It floats because it is lighter than the amount of water that is displaces.

  4. Because it is less dense than water.

    Petrified wood does not float though.
