Why does y pigeon have runny p**p sometimes?

i have this pigeon and he seems to be acting happy and healthy. but sometimes he has runny p**p. i know it sounds gross but i just want to know if this is common in pigeons or is he sick? i'v never had pigeons before so i dont know if this is normal. he has like p**p with lots of water and just p**p >.< also, he loves sunflower seeds and eats a lot of thoes. could that be the reason why? please help i dont want to have to go look in his bird house one morning and see him dead :(

Cut the sunflower seeds.  He&#039;s likely drinking lots of water because of the shell which is really too high in fiber for pigeons.   Beside, pigeons actually prefer safflower seed to sunflower anyday.  BTW  I hope you&#039;re giving him lots of other stuff beside just the sunflower seeds.  He should be on a pigeon diet (about 14-16% protein) and you can find the mixes at most feed stores.

It could also be that you&#039;re catching him between meals - if you only feed once a day.  So long as the loose droppings are only occasional he&#039;s probably just fine.

If you want to see if you can tighten them up, feed him some pearled barley.
