Sounds to me like your setting is set to that.  You probably need to change your settings in Preferences. Also, make sure when you sign out you click "sign out" and not "sign out to mobile phone"

go to MESSENGER box upright  -> PRIVACY OPTIONS -> GENERAL -> Then (CHECK) sign out MESSENGER when I close the window.

You have to set up this so you aren't confused where will you sign out!
