Why does your voice sound different when you hear yourself talking vs when you hear it on a recording?

  1. bones, tendons, and skin conduct sound slightly different than air


  2. Because when you talk, the sound waves vibrate the bones of your skull.  What you are hearing when you talk is the sound waves vibrating your skull as well as passing through the air to your ears.

    When you hear your voice on a recording, you are only hearing the sound waves created by your voice.  Since you aren't having your head vibrated, you sound different.

  3. it depends on the quality of the recording device. when u use a high quality camera they use in tv or movies, it sounds basically the same but something like my phone that costs 20 bucks has a horrible device in it because thats not its main purpose.
