Why does your voice sound weird when it is recorded and played back but not when you are on a PA system?

  1. I always thought it sounded weird because you are playing it back and not talking WHILE you are listening to the Playback. I guess you wouldn't sound weird to yourself over a PA because you are talking while doing it not listening to a recording where you can really pay attention to the way you speak.


  2. On a pa sytem you are heraing your voice from the loudspeaker and through your own head the same as if you were talking in an empty room so there are 2 effects; a time difference between hearing yourself and hearing the loudspeaker, and an echo effect from the loudspeaker sound bouncing off walls, etc.
