  1. Because the prophesy said that one of cronus's sons will overthrow him and Zeus was the strongest (and his mother didn't let cronus eat him).

  2. Zeus has to because he wants to bring in the age of the Gods and have to overthrow the Titans even including his own dad and grandmother (mother nature) and it was in the prophecy that Cronus will be overthrown by one of his children so Cronus swallowed all his children and after Zeus defeated Cronus he freed all his siblings and even married his sister Hera. It was the same prophecy that Zeus will be overthrown by one of his children too but that never happened because the religion slowly died out and replaced by Christianity. I read that Aries posed the most threat to Zeus. Hopes this helps.

  3. there is a father/son lingering in most mythology.

cronus over threw uranos, his father, ,and Zues overthrew cronus.

it was because each father was destroying their sons in the fear they would destroy them in time.

even in norse mythology odin over threw his father to become lord of the gods. greek an dnorse mythology are interestly very intertwined and eventually lead to alot of influence in christianity.
