  1. Cruse lines allow you to have ice tea, hot tea, coffee, and punch, but no soda for free.  I can't remember the last time soda was free on a cruise.  It's a money making decision.

  2. Carnival does not charge for soft drinks, only alcohol.

  3. Well ask the management why and voice your concern. Maybe if they get a lot of complaints they will do something about it.

  4. Yes there is a soda card however if i remember correctly it is closer to $50 for a week-long cruise.

  5. I recall that sodas were included in the price on our first cruise many years ago.  But the cruise lines discovered sodas to be a revenue source and now they charge for them.

We always purchase the soda program when we arrive.  Per the glass it too expensive.

The bartenders on the Royal Caribbean cruise would ignored us and wait on everyone else at the bar first because they don't get a gratuity for serving the sodas.

Carnival gave use better service using the soda card.  Having two kids, the soda cards are a good value.

  6. they are all about making money but what business isn't

  7. They are trying to make money. What can you do though.

  8. Why do cruise lines charge for sodas?  Because they can and it is a money maker for them.

  9. That is not a new policy as cruise ships have been charging for soft drinks for a long time.  I have been on RC, Princess, Celebrity, and NCL and they all charge.

So I always take a six pack of 16 oz sodas and a six pack of bottled water on board for my cabin.  Then just order iced tea for dinner.

  10. They want to make money.

If I remember correctly, you can buy a soda card for about $30 that will give you unlimited soft drinks on your cruise.

  11. Like its been said... to make more money! Although there are a couple of cruise lines that do not charge for soft drinks, and obviously the allinclusive cruise ships dont (ummm...like island cruises i think)

However, that being said, those companies that now charge also normally offer a 'softdrink card' where you pay a nominal fee, something like 10 dollars or so and with that youll get 20 or 30 soft drinks.... a few travel agents have deals with the cruise lines to get you these cards free when you book a cruise through them...

  12. you're lucky they don't charge for water.
