  1. 1 + 1

    = 10 (in binary form)

  2. In binary 1+1=10 :)

  3. I don't know if this is what you mean but I was once asked by my math professor "What is 1+1 if it equal's 2?"  Of course I answered 2 but I was corrected with the answer was 1+1... He said it was a play on words. He asked what is 1+1, not what is the answer to 1+1. Hope I helped atleast a little.

  4. That statement cannot be easily proven or disproven.  I think your professor is nuts.  He wants you to think critically, but is using an example that is not very suitable for that purpose.

(In mathematics where decimal numbers reign, 1+ 1 = 2.)

  5. if you concatenate the "1" and "1" it is equal to "11"

  6. try yahoo-ing it.

    or googling.

  7. In binary notation, 1+1 equals 10 (because the binary number 10 represents the decimal number 2). Given that all ways of expressing information (or at least all non-quantum ways) are reducible to binary, but that binary is NOT reducible to unary (base 1), you could argue that all information is really binary and that 1+1 therefore really equals 10 at the most basic level and that we just like to write it 2. Yes, it's kind of reaching, but what else are you going to do?
