Why doesn't AIM show me that I'm signed onto two locations when I am ? And how do I fix the problem ?

If you quite don't understand what I mean . If you simply go on two different computers ; a computer and some other kind of device that has aim in it . Sign on to one device and then the other . If you receive an IM saying that you've been signed onto two locations and it tells you to respond to the the message with a number . When it tells you this and when you respond , it'll tell you that you are now signed onto one location . For some reason , it doesn't show me . Why and how do I fix the problem ?
