Question:

Why doesn't Al Gore drive a hybrid?

If he cares so much about the environment why doesn't Al Gore drive a hybrid, and live in a small apartment, and bike to work rather than take a jet? Instead he takes a limo everywhere he goes, owns a private jet, and lives in a mansion. He is nothing but a big fat hypocrite. If global warming is such a problem shouldn't he set an example?

  1. i totally agree! why doesnt he drive a hybrid!

Al Gore is telling people to stop global warming but he doesnt do anything to help in return. What is he doing to solve the problem, huh? It is a problem and he has no business to tell people what to do when he goes around in his big private jet and mansion. I dont like him.

He does not drive a hybrid, he flies a private jet all over the world.  He has several houses, each one is bigger than any house you will ever live in.

  3. Rumor has it that he buys carbon credits.  In essence, he pays other people to be 'green' for him.

He may suppose that taking a jet, etc.; is a sacrifice which will pay off when others get the word, go green, and take fewer jet plane trips, etc.

  4. "Do as I say, not as I do," is the Global Warming lobby's mantra.

  5. I love this question! I think it's hilarious that the poster boy for global warming flies around in his own jet.

  6. From July 21, 2006 SPIEGEL interview:

"SPIEGEL: Mr. Gore, what kind of car do you drive?

Gore: About a year ago we bought a hybrid, but I don't drive very much. We've changed our entire lifestyle. We made the decision to be carbon-neutral and eliminate any net CO2 contribution to the environment. Even "An Inconvenient Truth" was produced in part using carbon-neutral, alternative energies. Paramount also made the decision to ensure that the tour and the promotional activities would be done in a carbon-neutral way."

And, yes, I own a hybrid, too. *60* MPG -- how about you? At least I'm trying.

  7. Love of Truth said:

"One thing I like about Gore is he seems to listen to public opinion. When criticized about his energy usage at his TN Mansion he immediately 'installed solar panels, a rainwater-collection system and geothermal heating. He also replaced incandescent lights with compact fluorescent or light-emitting diode bulbs.'"

This seems like an odd reason to like a person. A man preaches AGW and suggests drastically changing your lifestyle, but he doesn't even follow in suit with his own advice until criticized about it, and you like that about him? I mean it wasn't about the money, he could have easily changed his own lifestyle years ago, but he didn't. Doesn't that seem odd to you?

  8. he's a hypocritical moron. basically a bad person in general. and science has disproved the theory of global warming, the media and people like al gore just won't admit it. you'd think they'd be happy 2 say we're not gonna die, but i guess they like the control they have over us.

  9. What he says is for "public consumption"; what he practises is always different , Just another among a lot of hypocrites. The problem is  ' he isn't illiterate, but not an intelligent person; he isn't ignorant of what you are saying , yet he doesn't know the answer'.......he preaches , he is a non believer of whatever he preaches , because, those are meant for public consumption assuming that the general people are "asleep".All Hypocrites were /are like him .There isn't anything different with him.

  10. He pollutes more than I do and I know global warming is a bunch of c**p!

"Every time a bell rings, I make it a point to start all 4 of my diesel trucks"  Have a nice day!

  11. you're right... he should pedal his *** from city to city if he wants to preach about reducing pollution and fossil fuel dependence, global warming, etc.  that way he'd reach more people.  Maybe he should just put this global warming awareness campaign off for awhile until they make jets that fly on just water, because certainly, if all these global warming people go away and stop being hypocrites, we'll have alternative technologies much sooner.  I see your logic sir!

    [Edit]

    I'm joking of course.

Listen... if I have to take Al Gore's advice and lower my carbon footprint, and say, a hundred million other people do this... then that ought to cover the jet.  But unless you were born yesterday, you should know that Al Gore offsets his carbon consumption personally as well.  You don't honestly believe he's never figured out what 'his own' carbon foot print is?  He has, and he buys carbon credits as well as develop new projects which he himself back both personally and through rallying support, from the help of millions of others.

The argument that Al Gore is a hypocrite base on his carbon footprint is ridiculous.  His carbon footprint is more like, in the negative of millions and millions of pounds, and his jet helps to make that happen.

Don't worry about Al Gore's carbon footprint.  If we had 10,000 more guys like him in the US, we would be on the fast track of reducing our carbon footprint on a global scale.

There are much worse people than Al Gore to pick on out there.

btw - if you people are going to make statements publicly, you should know what you're talking about, Al Gore of course drives a hybrid.

  12. I'm not the hugest Al Gore fan, but you can still be rich, live in a big house and make a difference. I think he does own and drive a hybrid, but I'd suspect in his line of work, he probably needs a larger vehicle most of the times for security reasons and also to hold the people he's probably lugging around with him.

People like him can still set examples in other ways and at least he's doing something to get the word out. I live in a house bigger than I actually NEED but I don't overheat it or over cool it and I do my best to use the least energy and products and recycle what I do use.

If Al Gore is a hypocrite, then we all are because most of us drive cars bigger than we need and live in houses bigger than we need and have more things than we need, so where do you draw the line?

  13. You're asking the wrong guy!

  14. THE RICH ONLY GET RICHER FROM PEOPLE LIKE YOU, WHO WILL BE TAKEN IN BY BUNK AND GIVE TO HIS CAUSE, SO HE CAN BE DRIVEN AROUND IN HIS LIMOUSINE THAT BURNS ALOT OF GAS. HE LIVES IN A MANSION AND REFUSES TO LIVE THE WAY HE TELLS YOU (THE LITTLE PEOPLE) TO LIVE. WHAT HE'S TOLD YOU ABOUT THE CAUSES OF OUR ENVIRONMENT IS FALSE, NOW ITS A FACT THAT EXHAUST SHOULD BE CHANGED TO ANOTHER TYPE OF ? = BECAUSE IT KILLS.

  15. Because global warming is mostly a scam (at least the concept that we are causing it)

  16. Right on, just wish the mad scientists  would tell me a real good reason why it is still cold here in MN. and don't give me the Climate Change BS either. Because that's what Global Warming is, BS

  17. According to this link Gore does indeed now drive a ford hybrid after trading in his Toyota Lexus.

One thing I like about Gore is he seems to listen to public opinion. When criticized about his energy usage at his TN Mansion he immediately "installed solar panels, a rainwater-collection system and geothermal heating. He also replaced incandescent lights with compact fluorescent or light-emitting diode bulbs."

No, gore is not perfect but he does seem to try & has done much to educate the public about GW. As for his private Jet, he is in sort of a position of  being a global messenger. The good he can do via education is worth the carbon his lifestyle may emit. He also buys carbon credits & gives bunches of money to green charity to offset much of his expenditures. This is not to say he cannot do better than the changes we have been seeing of late. Personally I think he could downsize his mansion or at least house more people.

But over all it is the message that should be scrutinized more than the man. Stalin was a horrible man (much much worse than the neo cons are trying to portray Gore), a man who did unspeakable things to his people. Yet one of the phrases he liked to use was, "You can't make an omelet without braking eggs." Did his nefarious character somehow make this any less true in certain contexts or bar one from using such phraseology in a virtuous context? I think not.

In short people and issues are two separate things.

  18. he doesn't really believe in what he preaches.

  19. Who cares?  What Al Gore says or does has nothing to do with whether global warming is a big problem.  It is.

This is science and what counts is the data.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

    summarized at:

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

EVERY major scientific organization has issued an official statement that this is real, and mostly caused by us.  The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

  20. Because Global Warming is a big scam to steal our money. Gore ad his cronies have pulled off the biggest scam ever.

  21. Im with you on that one. He is supposed to be the leader on global warming. Why doesnt he lead by example?

  22. most hybrids don't get better mileage than identical standard engine cars.

    Hybrids are basically a scam.

Yes, a few of them might be able to squeeze 45 mph - if they're lucky.

But cars were getting 45 to 55 mph back in the late 1980s. I don't call this progress.

Not to mention, a hybrid's battery is full of toxic sludge.

No one seems to care about that though.

  23. why don't you drive a hybrid? don't ask me the same question cause i don't even drive, i walk.

i think al gore is overrated, we have to pay attention to the real scientists who know whats really going on with global warming. al gore is sorta just like a messenger. global warming is a big problem, you can help just by doing little things here and there...and driving a hybrid.

  24. We all should set an example but I think we are all still guilty of not in some way or another.

  25. because Al Gore is a hypocrite who is using this fake global warming crisis for his own ends.
