  1. I wondered this lol it rains and snows (sometimes) so most of the rides wud be closed and especially the water rides so no one really wants to pay £35 to go on a few small rides...shame though..if only we had hot winters haha =]

  2. blah blah 2 pts :)

  3. cos its cold and pretty much rains all the time and gets dark by 3pm...duh

  4. cos the rides might freeze or something and i don't think many people would find trudging round for 3/4 hours fun!

  5. it does i think.. when i was there a few days ago there was a poster advertising christmas at alton towers at christmas in the monerail station.

  6. holiday

  7. Maintenance and they do actually open christmas and new year if you are staying in the hotels there. Plus it would be too cold and they wouldnt get the same volume of people through the gates

  8. Seasonal theme parks close during the winter to rehab and mainain the rides, and maintain and improve the park grounds. Wintertime is the slowest time of year for tourism, except for the holidays of course. Also, the weather would interfere with park operation, and there aren't alot of people that would enjoy riding a 70 mph coaster when it is 30 degrees out and snowing! ;) There are those hardcore folks (like the author of this answer) that would, but for most folks, they would rather stay indoors or catch a movie on cold winter days like that.

There is ALOT of work that goes on behind the scenes, to ensure the park and the rides are safe for seasons to come. This is most often done during the winter months when the park is closed for the season.

  9. cos nobody wants to pay 30 quid to stand in the cold and wet while waiting for c**p rides....
