Why doesn't Bernard Hopkins get more love in here?

B Hop may be the underdog according to Vegas but I think Calzaghe is over confident and ripe for an upset. Calzaghe has been a big fish in a tiny pond for a long time and he's going to get owned just like Little Ricky Hatton.

  1. I love Bernard as a fighter, but in boxing styles make fights. And right now Calzaghe looks to have the perfect style and intangibles to be Bernard. He's faster, busier, And has never learned how to lose and besides being unbeaten he's been champion for like ten years. I think Bernard looked awful mauling, headbutting and clinching his way to a UD against a non puncher in Winky Wright. How is he a year older now. Going to Beat A tall rangy Southpaw in Joe Calzaghe. The peeps on Yahoo answers just keep it real.

  2. nobody has ever said that b hop was a underdog anyway i think his one of the best boxers around.

  3. Vegas has Calzaghe as the favorite but I think Hopkins will pull out a win on the score cards.

  4. Calzaghe will slaughter Hopkins!!! Hopkins has a big mouth and yeah, he is gonna get beaten by a white boy good and proper!!

  5. B Hop is a great fighter but people underestimate him because of his age, not his skill.

  6. I think in this matchup its just more about Calzaghe is just the flavor of the month amongst causal fans.  I feel Hopkins is overrated by a lot of people based on the circumstances of his biggest wins - and in that sense Calzaghe is being hugely overrated, he hasn't beaten anyone of note, not world class victories in his WHOLE career.  Jeff Lacy?  Peter Manfrado?  Mikkel Kessler?  Come on.

The unfortunate part about this fight (which I actually think will be a pretty good one) is that whoever happens to win is going to gain way too much credit for beating the other - the boxing hypemachine will have fans believe that if Calzaghe wins he has beaten the legendary Hopkins at his best, if Hopkins wins he will have beaten "arguably" the greatest super-middle weight of all-time.

Both guys are trying to grab as much gloss to their legacies at the end of their careers to make up for avoiding true top fighters of their generations.

  7. bernard always finds a way to win. i think he was robed in the first taylor fight. calzaghe has many tools but i think the master technition will find his weekness.

  8. bernard my fav athlete hes a great boxer great defensive wizard h**l beat calzaghe hes wild when he throws punches and hopkins will counter that

  9. i like bhop but i take it with a grain of salt , i think he got totally robbed  by jermain taylor and i was on his bandwagon after that especially when he  mugged tarver  for the LHW title.

I like his trash talk , he talks a good game , and i respect the fact he is still so good in his 40's.

but the biggest wins that he brags about were against 147 lbs fighters that were way blown up at middleweight, and the other knock on him is that i think in their primes roy jones would have beat him everytime they fought and i give calzaghe an edge in beating him back in the early 2000's and i certainly think Joe will beat him easily now.

so i got love for bhop  , but i don't take his word for gosphel
