I understand that there are environmental aspects like building new roads and disrupting wildlife, but there is so much ideal land, and offshore wind farms are another possibility.

  1. Government regulations.   It costs as much to get a permit for a small hydro or wind turbine as it does for a huge facility.   Tie in problems with the grid is a problem too.

  2. The government isn't encouraging  the development of that type of energy because they're too busy thinking of ways to make us stop using it instead. Making it unaffordable ie: our cars  and the upcoming gas tax, and then of course there's the Olympics, and then they've got so many other more important things to spend our money on.

On the bright side, with everyone jumping on the environmental bandwagon, maybe we can save some pockets of wilderness for the next generation???

Just my opinion....sorry if it's a little jaded...

  3. Cuz the government probably doesn't subsidize it enough to make it worth it. More Farm Aid!!!

  4. They can't find enough wind seeds.
