Why doesn't Disney influence kids to read books instead of watching mindless TV all day?

books don't make as much money and produce as much merchandise as TV shows in most cases.

Plus TV is more accessible to kids unlike books which you have to go to the store to get, but most homes already have cable.

Because the Disney Empire wants to squeeze all the money it can out of boy bands (Jonas Brothers) and young girls who aren't talented (Miley Cyrus)

because thats there job they are movie and television they wouldn't make any money in books imagine disney the book brand. thats just strange. although its not right it's there job so thats what they do. if you don't want to watch tv all day don't!

Because reading a book doesn't sell Miley Cyrus CD's.  They are the Disney channel for God's sake, not PBS.

Disney doesn't make much profit off books. Even though they are kid related, they will always push for movies and TV due to higher profitability.

well i know someone who hated reading and they would watch hannah montana all day everyday but then when it wasn't on they got bord so they actually began to read hannah montana books which have improved their reading

I'm not siding with Disney but children age about 2 yrs learn and capture info very fast through watching TV. I justify that because my son learnt a lot of things through the Disney channel.

Of course, we have to limit the time spent watching TV.

Disney channel is one of the most popular children channels. It is popular for little kids, tweens, and even teenagers. I want you to think about the movies that need funding , new shows ect.

because if they influenced kids to read books no one would watch t.v resulting in disney channel going out of buisness. they do actually make disney books so if you have a kid then get them to read yourself. :)
