PBF always claims to be the best boxer of all time, but will he ever make such a stake towards his claim?

  1. i think its only a matter of time

  2. he already has.

cotto isn't a big enough name yet for mayweather to take.  the fight wouldn't generate enough PPV buys for it to be worth his while.  at this point in his career, he should only be taking big money fights.  he's solidified his place already.  Judah, Hatton, DLH, Gatti, Luis Castillo x2, Coralles, Mitchell, Baldomir.....what else does he have to prove?

  3. Because he does not care. Simple and plain, he doesnt care. Mayweather has made so much money off boxing that he doesnt care about becoming an all time great. People are saying that Cotto wouldnt generate enough PPV buys?? O yeah, but i guess Hatton did. Cotto sold out the Garden for gods sake, give him some credit. As Americans, we think just because somebody isnt recgonized over here, he isnt recgonized where he is from.

Also to people calling Money May a "Great. Thumbs down me if you want but listen. Who has Mayweather beat?? Come on tell me. Who has Mayweather beat?? Then look at yourself are those fighters really anybody. The only person you can say where somebodys were Hatton, Castillo, and Corralles.

  4. MAYWEATHER DOES NOT HAVE TO BEAT COTTO TO BE THE BEST HE ALREADY IS THE BEST...COTTO HAS TO BEAT MAYWEATHER ... YOU CANT KNOCK FLOYD FOR FIGHTING OSCAR WHEN COTTO IS FIGHTING GOMEZ

  5. he will. hes waiting til the payout is bigger. cotto needs 2 be more well known

  6. how does him fighting cotto make him the best boxer in history?

I don't think cotto can beat delahoya or a rematch with mosely to be honest. and I hate delahoya.

basically how can a fight with cotto influence floyds place in history?

  7. Floyd was the best when Cotto was fighting in swampy clubs in Puerto Rico.  Floyd doesn't need Cotto.  Cotto needs Floyd.  Why don't people get that?  Floyd IS one of the best boxers in history, whether he beats Cotto or not.

And you know what will happen WHEN Floyd beats Cotto?  Critics will say "Well. . . he has to beat Shane to really be great.  Or he has to beat Oscar TWICE. . . .or he has to win a piece of the heavyweight title. . . .or save a burning orphanage."  I'm tiring of this.  He's great. . . and he doesn't need Cotto to prove that.

***BY THE WAY. . . I notice a reference to Sugar Ray Robinson.  Robinson stayed active by fighting OFTEN and fight MULTIPLE FIGHTS with fighters that gave audiences exciting fights.  These days, after ANYONE fights a trilogy, we're scared to have them fight again, or they'll "burn each other out".  Pleeeeeeze!

  8. what has miguel cotto done that would make Floyd have to beat him to be a hall of famer?

in this situation Floyd is the guy who has done more in the sport, taking a fight with Cotto would be a good fight, but it has no influence on his spot in history.

There is nobody in the sport right now that could beat Floyd mayweather....except...for vernon forrest.  Go ahead and laugh it up, haha, but if they were to ever fight remember who told u first.

  9. if Floyd wants to prove his the best boxer ever he must clean out the welterweight division . cotto, margarito, cintron, williams are not as good as mayweather but trust me they are all game and would give floyd a hard fight. he hasnt faughta prime opponent in his division in 3 years. if pacman beats marquez and floyd beats oscar, pacqiao will take over the number one p4p cause of the opposition.

  10. Fear.

  11. The fight will happen.  It isn't happening now because of the rematch between PBF and ODLH.  It could realistically get negotiated after the DLH fight.

After disposing of hatton and DLH, Mayweather doesn't need a big name to sell PPV.  He IS the draw, not his opponent.

I think that a fight with Cotto does nothing for his career.  If they agree to a fight, May will be the favorite to win.  Only a convincing KO would do the job.  Any decision would have the Mayweather haters saying it was a 'gift' and so on.  A loss to Cotto would be even worse, as the haters would start calling him a fraud.

I liked what I saw out of Mayweather when he went to work on Hatton.  I think something similar will be in store for DLH, and then lets hope we can see him unify his division.

  12. floyd is already an all time great, even if he doesn't fight cotto which is a fight we would all like to see.........he only has a few good fights left in him, so like leonard before him he can afford to pick and choose who he wants to fight.

if the cotto bout takes place, it won't happen 'till next year.

  13. I think Mayweather is a "all time" great. But if he wants to be mentioned in the way that he claims (with SRR) he would have to go out and be as active as Robinson. He would have to clean out the division like Robinson did. Leonard fought Duran, Hagler, Hearns, Benitez and went on to win at Super Midddleweight. If Floyd wants to be recognized in the class of those types of men, he should stop taking easy pay days in the WWE and fight everybody thats out there before they get old or lose a step like De la Hoya!

  14. Dont worry it`ll happen just not yet.

As, Keith S said, maywheather is too

busy making money at the moment.

Cotto's camp have always seem to

shy from a maywheather fight themselves.

They know the timing isn't right,

probably know maywheather would win aswell

  15. First and foremost, I am a PBF fan.  I think he is one of the greatest boxers of all time ........... when he has a purpose.

Cotto will be a tough fight for him.  I do believe he will come out on top, but PBF knows he doesn't have that many fights left.  He want to "retire form boxing and not left boxing retire him (me)".  He will fight him when it benefits him the most.  If Cotto and CIntron fight to unify their belts, PBF will definitely take on the winner.  Without that fight, Cotto is just going to have to wait his turn.
