Why doesn't Ford offer a hybrid car yet?

They just came out with their 2009 models and there is still no sign of a hybrid car. They still have the hybrid Escape but they still don't have a single hybrid sedan. How hard can it be for them to design a hybrid sedan?

  1. Because all Ford cars are junk.  Ford is cheap, therefore they are not willing to spend the money on a hybrid car.  Didn't you see the Ford commercial where they advertise that this year Ford's quality is going to satisfactory/ above average?  Wow what an improvement.

  2. Everyone says that Ford is dumb,but in the mid 80's,90's and up untill 2006 the big SUV and trucks is what everyone wanted.It takes years to design a vehicle for production even if your just putting a different engine in a vehicle already in production.Toyota has had hybrids years before the gas prices went sky high but sold very few in the US untill the last 2 years.Ford has plans for small cars in the near future but I don't believe they have bought into the hybrids.I don't see the big deal with hybrids,high cost for not that big of mpg gains over a small engine car.

  3. That's because american cars suck. Get smart and buy japanese

  4. They are in denial most deep thinkers know very well that the future of transportation and new energy sources are on the horizon all the car manufacturers and yes even the oil company's are just trying to get by before the break through comes and just like electricity it will spread like a wild fire and revolutionize everything on the planet and sling us into the 22nd century so why would they want to waste there R&D on old thinking.

  5. They're dumb.

    And people wonder why others buy foreign cars...hmm..I wonder...cause..American companies suck.

  6. The Ford Fusion Hybrid is scheduled to hit the market in late 2009 as a Model Year 2010 car.  Production is scheduled to start in December this year.

    It will be sharing the same drivetrain as the Ford Escape Hybrid, which has proven to be quite tough on the streets of New York City--  The Escape Hybrid has served as NYC taxi cabs since 2004 without any problems.

    The Escape Hybrid/Fusion Hybrid drivetrain is very similar to the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive, using a very simple (and hence reliable and tough) Power Split Device transmission:  http://eahart.com/prius/psd/

    The Fusion Hybrid will be competing in the midsize hybrid sedan market segment against the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Nissan Altima Hybrid (both of those also use the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive, so all three cars will be very similar mechanically).

    I agree Ford should have done it MUCH sooner.

  7. Can you feel the love.  Did you ask if everyone hates America or what?  Because that is what that answers lead me to believe (I'm not blaming you, just the ignorant answerers).  I'm soooooo freaking sick and tired of people saying that Ford's are c**p.  They have the same quality as Honda and Toyota.  I'm not making it up - check it out here http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/fords-i...  Why not buy a quality American vehicle and support the American economy, which I believe is in the sh*tter right now!

    As for why they don't have hybrid cars - it's the battery.  I'm pretty sure they get the batteries from Honda for now because they are the only ones, other than maybe Toyota, that make hybrids (by the way, what does Nissan, Kia, VW, etc offer with a hybrid?).  It's a new technology and they don't know how the batteries will hold up in the long run.  How pissed will consumers be when the battery finally needs to be replaced and they have to spend $5000+ to do so?  By the way, they're working on a Fusion.  Their focus for the last 10 years or so have been trucks and suv's, hence the reason they came out with a Escape Hybrid first.  Honda and Toyota's focus has been cars, hence the reason they came out with hybrid cars first.

    They'll have them soon enough, as well as other fuel economical cars and crossovers.  They are working on a plug in Escape Hybrid that can go 120 miles on a single charge.  They also have a Edge that... well I'm not going to write it all here.  Check out the site here http://www.ford.com/innovation/environme...

    See, they have these vehicles they're just not 100% ready for production.  Wouldn't you rather wait until they perfected them before they put them on the lots for sale?

    GO FORD!!!!

  8. I think anyone who makes it a habit to trash American car companies is a useless liberal traitor, who has probably never even owned a Ford. Does it make you feel good to trash American products? Why?

    Let's say you're Ford in 1995. You can sell SUV's and trucks, because that's what the public wants, and make record profits doing it, or you can work on hybrids when gas is less than $2 per gallon. What would you do?

    They are correcting their mistakes, by bringing over the European Focus and Fiesta, among others. The Fusion hybrid is coming next year. And for the record, Ford had more top-rated cars in the 2007 JD Powers than Toyota.

    Finally, I can't speak for every Ford product out there, but the 7 Fords I have owned NEVER left me stranded. I wish I could say that for the Honda I used to own. It left me walking several times; I was paying on the loan for the replacement Honda transmission long after I unloaded the car at a huge loss to me. So, every car maker has their lemons.

  9. Because they, like other American auto manufacturers, made the huge mistake of thinking bigger is better (I.E gas guzzling SUV's and trucks).

  10. Because American are money hungry.

    Car=Oil

    Oil=Money

    Hybrid=Less oil

    Less oil=Less money
