As a veteran, I would expect John McCain to be a champion for the rights of veterans and active-duty soldiers alike. So why did he vote against the updated GI Bill?

  1. "Well done is much better than well said."

    Ben Franklin

McCain has been to Iraq eight times since the war began, three times last year alone - long before he needed the publicity as a campaign stunt.

"The liberal Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) gave McCain a score of 15 percent in 2006 for his votes on 20 issues."

"The American Conservative Union gives McCain a lifetime score of 82.3 percent."

Yet he is often considered too liberal - how ironic.

I checked 11 different bills relating to veterans and McCain's votes in all eleven reflected the decision of the Senate - in every single case. Why is it that these bills that were rejected are a reflection on McCain and not on the Senate as a whole? Why is it that he is not recognized for the veteran bills that he did vote for and ultimately passed?

Sounds like partisan politicical rhetoric as usual to me.

  2. as I understand there was some bad things were not good things in the bill .sound like all fluff no substance .

  3. because the republicans are so pro troops that they are willing to send them to die for oil companies

  4. Your only spouting half the truth...and less than half the facts.

The New GI bill when it came before McCain did not have the added benefits it has now, so he refused to sign it.

If that bill would have passed, then a lot of Families would have missed out on education benefits.

Get your facts straight before ranting...it just makes you look ignorant

  5. Don't you get it, the Market will take care of the Veterans. Or was that Jesus? No wait, by cutting taxes on multi-billion dollar corporations and the country's wealthiest 5% the veteran's get helped.-Your kind of blame-America-first thinking is allowing the terrorists to win.

  6. read the entire bill.  McCain wanted a provision in the bill that would allow GI education benefits to be able to be passed on to the GI's children.  It wasn't included so he didn't vote for it.
