  1. An eye doctor wrote him and told him that yellow is the easiest color for the human eye to see.

  2. The original answerer got it correct, bright pads show more net area behind you(I know since I am a goalie my self) White pads are harder to tell at just a glimps, considering the netting is white.

He also updated with a new brand of Rbks.

  3. Someone within the Penguins organization showed him a study or statistic that goaltenders with distinctly colored pads allowed more goals.  Basically, the white pads blend with the net more and give the shooters a better idea of where the open areas of the net were.  Whether it was psychological or not, he switched to the white pads and it worked for him.

EDIT: I Bleed Copper and Blue: When you add more information to your answer, it is common courtesy to the rest of the people who answer to put an edit comment before your answer similar to the one I placed before this.  It will show that you changed your answer after your original post.

EDIT: Brent, the second person who answered got it right prior to the first person to answer.  Copper and Blue did not have that information in his answer when I answered this and I did not know an important fact which has been pointed out since.

  4. He got new ones because it is proven that golies with brightly colored pads have a higher GAA. Colored pads are supposed to give shooters a better advantage bcause they can see the net better. So what about jerseys? that must make a difference too. I dont think that it would make that big of a difference, but it worked. Fleury came back with those white pads and played excellent.

  5. They stick out too much. An Optometrist in Ottawa showed him the actual data of it as well. If you use white ones they blend in far better and it is easier to score between the legs with the harder target.

  6. they close your five-hole and give the player a lower persentage shot unless he can really snipe trust me im a goalie
