  1. you are being idiotic

1 notre dame is a college in south bend indiana not a state

2 its a college colleges arent in the nfl

    3 is this lou holtz

  2. One thing that the NFL looks at very strongly is that city or state television market. If that state ,or city has a very low television market then odds wont favor them landing a NFL team, or any professional sport in that matter. Population does have an impact onthe television market as well as attendance of games. NFL studies shows even though many will support thier favorite team in a city only approxiametly less than 1% of that cities population and surrounding area will actually attend games, this gives the NFL an estimated count on how large that new team stadium will be as well as that teams attendance will be, remember on local televised games, if the home team does not sell out, that game for the local fans will be blacked out,

So its very important that the city and the surrounding area not only has good population to get good attendance but that area supports a good television market. Also the NFL looks into that particular cities interest in supporting a NFL team.

So if you have a population of lets say 6 million people in a city and its surrounding area, they look at that and say this program will have in attendance approxiametly 60,000 people, easier to sell out, good size stadium, and with 6 million is a good television market.

One area that surprised me was in the West Virginia area of the Charleston-Huntington-tri-State area. This entire area has the population estimation of around 5 million. Most of it from small towns

in the southeastern ohio area and Charleston and Huntington -Ashland-Portsmouth-Ironton population. Its television market was ranked in the top 30, making it a favorable market, but when it comes to that 1%

the NFL looks for it only puts the stadium size around 50,000. Thats nice but a bit too small, even though that area TV market is ok for the NFL, its the location and the ability to show interest from area's such as eastern Kentucky and S.Eastern Ohio that causes the biggest issue's in getting a team. Also , a owner that simply has the money and means to support the team, if elected as a state supported team, then the population of West Virginia most likley wont be able to support it due that it'll be extrememly difficult to get SE.Ohio and Eastern Kentucky residents to get involved in support for the team, even though all areas I mentioned would be less than 1 hour to the stadium. West Virginia overall population is around 1.8 million to 2.2

million. Again most of it in the Area of Charleston heading west into the Huntington area.

  3. Notre Dame is in Indiana,Indiana has the Indianapolis Colts,if Notre Dame can't even compete against colleges like themselves, how the h**l are they going to compete against the pros, now USC is a complete opposite story, they are paid athletes who compete against college players

  4. probable because there smart enough not to pay a billionaire to bring his over payed overgrown "children" team to there state to clog up the streets!

  5. there are a couple of states that lack football teams, ND doesnt have one because they dont have a big enough marker for one, teams look at revenue in that state and then at which city produces alot of it...sure there are a couple NFL teams in small cities....green bay, buffalo but the majority are in big city areas
