I've been running for about 3 years now, and i usually run 5-6 miles a week. However, it never seams to get easier for me. I can barely run 2 miles in a day at the same time and I feel like dieing. My peak was 3 miles and I can't even do that anymore. I have lost alot of weight because of running but I just want to increase my miles how should I do it?

  1. your have reached your max running that way. you have to push your self and run more than u want even if its hard. then in a bit you will be able to run that easy. then move up in miles again. 5-6 miles a week really wont get you better at running distance. just push your self, and you will improve.

  2. You need a trainer ..back off a little and do other things besides run ..

Try riding a bike a few miles a day and if you can swimm a few days a week.

  3. To increase the mileage and endurance you should run at an appropriate pace (=SLOW!!!). Pushing yourself hard is a bad idea. You should run at a pace at which you can easily hold a conversation. It is also a good idea to get a heart rate monitor: to boost endurance you should never go beyond some 70% of your maximum hr (max ~= 225-age). Go to runnersworld.com for extra tips.

  4. Don’t worry about mileage. If all you think about is going to a certain place, you will subconsciously try to go there in a certain amount of time. Just run, but this time put your watch in your pocket, and relax more. Make sure you focus on your form, you don’t have to be a sprinter and pull your hands up to your nose just keep your arms around 90 degrees, and if you feel you lungs hurt breathe out because you have CO2 built up in your lungs. Make sure you eat food and drink water within 20 minutes; if you wait you body will not accept it. Also you should try to join a track/distance club, hire a trainer, or run with friends to help you relax while you run.

Good job losing all of that weight, I’m sure more benefits are soon to come.

  5. push urself harder

  6. If you've lost A LOT of wieght that might be a bad thing. Make sure you eat enough calories to sustain your excercise. Eat foods high in protien, and try to avoid processed foods with high frutcose corn syrup.

Eat lotsss of fruits and vegetables and whole grains and get enough sleep. This will keep you fast and energized.

If your body is really hurting while you run it could be a sign...take some time off to let your body recover and start at 1 mile and work your way up.
