  1. There is a nice article online from Digg at HDTV Magazine which has an interview with Brian Berkeley, Vice President, LCD Business Technology Development Group, Samsung Electronics.  It describes response times pretty well.

    http://www.hdtvmagazine.com/articles/200...

Mr Berkeley is quoted as saying such things as,

"There is nothing particularly great about a g-g response time of 8ms; 4ms g-g is more typical these days"

    - & -

"This said, no I don't see any side benefit to having faster transition time if the frame rate doesn't require it. Better to focus on other design points"

    -&-

"For example, for a 120Hz panel, it isn't quite as simple as saying the g-g response must be within 1/120Hz or 8.33ms... A g-g response below that number is required."

It seems that for 60Hz content (720p or 1080p) the response times that exist now are good enough.  In future, for 120Hz, the number to beat is better than 8ms.

  2. because they just dont

  3. It's a MOOT point if they sell 120 Hz refresh rated TV sets....

And it's even more Mootier if the dynamic processing of the Video signal is done in such a way that their competition would attempt to steal it, IF they knew the actual response time of the displays....

So let's keep it a secret ok?
