  1. Supply vs demand:

Companies that sell video game consoles discovered that they didn't sell as many units if there were plenty to go around, so they strangled the supply to make them more "exclusive."

One way to think about it:  If your friend has something that anyone can easily get they won't be nearly as "leet" as they will be if they have something very few people can get.

The same goes for iPhones, wristwatches, exotic cars and all of the other consumer garbage that people hang themselves for in debilitating strangling jobs every day.

  2. the problem is demand is to high they can't keep up with it, they weren't prepared for how many people were going to want it, so it hit them big, as for my area Salt Lake City all the stores have Wii's and Wii Fits, but it just will take time, when people stop wanting them or they already have them they will start becoming more and more in stock.

P.s.  They do deliver them to bulk,  For example.  Target Co. will recieve probably 100,000 wii's then they will ship say 20 or so to each store.  that problem is they go to differnt area's at different times, so once some are in a area people rush for them and they are gone before most people even go to the store.

  3. They're trying, but there are a limited number of manufacturing plants. All the companies are making roughly the same amount of units; the issue is that the Wii sells out too quickly for stores to keep them in stock for long. It would take a lot of time, energy, and money for Nintendo to just open up a new manufacturing plant to make more Wiis, and they'd probably end up losing money on the investment.

  4. In order to make them faster, they'd have to build more factories. he concern is that it takes about 6 months to complete a factory of the type that it would take to make Wii and it's accesories, and 6 months from now, demand may have died down to where that new factory is no longer needed, and all the money poured into building it is wasted.

  5. I agree with Dark JB

  6. They do give enough, the stores simply can't keep them in stock for long, before they sell out.
