  1. Because the big companies already have so much invested in what they consider "traditional" energy.  The companies are the ones who run a capitalistic society and make those decisons.

  2. In some countries they do, and here are some examples:

-Solar water heating systems are mandatory in several countries.

-Several countries are investing heavily in modern wind energy technology.

-Some countries require car owners to use a mix of gasoline and ethanol.

  3. ya a government should implement substitutes.but it is too economical to implement them and why a government should?we our selves should buy and use the alternate fuel vehicles.for an example,in india, there are electronic scooters.there is a great demand for them.govt. also exumpted licence for them.so its not matter of such things providad by a govt.we our selves should encourage them.then, the govt.does its best.

  4. Because in a free society, governments do not have anything to do with such matters, these are decided by the market place.

  5. Its about a UN Carbon TAX,NBC is owned by GE they build Nuclear power plants, solar panels cost 50,000 to power your house then you got batteries to replace,in north not enough sun light

  6. There currently is about a 1 Billion doller/year tax break for Wind/Solar power set to sunset.  It is not the first nor will it be the last incentive that the government gives.  However, our infrastructure does not support alot of green ways of life.

"Existing tax breaks for wind and solar power cost taxpayers a little more than $1 billion each year, the newspaper said."

However, Politics is always reluctant to spend more money on infrastucture.  Why put money into roads which you don't see the benifit for years when you can give a tax cut / rebate to everyone and get an instant boost in the polls? A huge number of our nations bridges are in need of repair.  And simply giving more money doesn't necessarly solve the problem. Money must work its way though buracracy.  All you have to do is visit a local school and look at portables that have been used for over  years to see the problem.

"In the federal government's rating system, any bridge that scores less than 80 – on a scale of 1 to 100 – is in need of rehabilitation. A bridge scoring below 50 should undergo reconstruction under federal guidelines. In 2004, 26.7 percent of US bridges, urban and rural, were rated deficient, down from 27.5 percent in 2002, according to the US Department of Transportation (DOT)." -CSM

Its all about priorities. If you don't like the priorities your government has set, you should write your congressman.  With the current american public though, a debate over a hot-button issue (Healthcare, war, tax cuts) will always get more attention than infrastructure spending.  Its what gets votes so its what gets the money and attention.

  7. Ask Your local Democrats, they are in the majority, but then I guess they have to get their grease somewhere.

Biofuel is recognized by both the US Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy as an alternative fuel, and qualifies for mandated programs under the Clean Air Act Amendments and the Environmental Protection Act of 1992 (EPAct).

USDA Clears Air with Biofuel: Buses and other diesel-burning vehicles run cleaner if they mix biofuel with regular diesel fuel, said the US Department of Agriculture at a biofuel fuel seminar at a USDA research center.

Conversely most major automotive manufacturers (Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors, etc) recommend the use of bio fuels, and nearly every car manufacturer in the world approves ethanol blends in their warranty coverage.

In fact your probably even driving an ethanol car and didn't even know it.

    The trick is finding fuel.

I've been producing biofuel for about 3 years now, it's not extremely difficult. Basically you need general household ingredients, a processor (or still for ethanol) and some used oil. Blend it, let separate, screen and use. I complied a guide a while back to help walk you threw the process step by step, just email me or check out..

I currently run Bio Fuel (straight vegetable) in a 1999 Dodge 3500 truck. But all Cummins engines were modified from the factory to run on BioD since around 1992 without any modification, as well as 2 converted vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions if you’d like assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, I’m willing to walk you step by step threw the process. I’ve written several how-to DIY guides available at http://www.agua-luna.com on the subject. I also offer online and on-site workshops, seminars and internships to help others help the environment.

  9. Sigh. You kids.

    1) Electricity comes from power plants. We still need fossil fuel for most of 'em.

    2) alternative energy sources cost money. Who is going to pay for it? The majority of the world barely has enough to pay for food.

    3) Oil is still cheaper than milk. Think about that.

    4) "The government" is us. You know someone who works for your town, police, or other public administation, chances are. That's the government.

    5) How will this ridiculously expensive technology be paid for? It would have to be through taxes. We can tax people like they do in Scandinavian countries, so that everyone is just one step ahead of the poverty level, but get used to not having freezers, heat in every room in your house, a clothes dryer, or more than one TV or car per household.

Go visit a house in Europe, where the residents make the same amount of money as you. It's awful.

  10. You should be aware that our president is in the oil business.

    That about says it all.
