  1. universal health care is a great idea but we don't have the money.  The US is is $10 trillion in debt.  We need to decrease that amount.  It would have worked in Teddy Roosevelt's time but not now.  Right now there is an 81% that the stock market will crash soon.

  2. They do.

  3. bet you believe in santa ,the tooth fairy and universal health care....dude,there is no free lunch ! what the gov. gives to people has to be robbed from other tax payers.............

  4. They definitely deserve it, but they should pay (at least a little bit) for it.  Good health is a universal right, but everything costs money - including health care.

  5. A minimum wage employee does deserve the same health care as the congress, but first we have to make a few changes. Why don't we pay Congress a minimum wage and let them work a full-time job on a part time salary?  Then the money our tax dollars that paid for their health care and salaries can go to more worthy causes.  Our elected officials will experience first hand as a insured individual Aetna, UHC, Blue Cross Blueshield, Workers Comp, the cost of benefits needs to go up ever year and they get less coverage; just like the people who elect them. They then have the opportunity to down size their house, drive economy cars or catch a bus or even car pool. They could even walk to work, buy a new pair of those gel shoe inserts so they could be in a happy mood.

  6. No more than the minimum wage employee deserves a big office, paid staff, travel expenses, free mailing privileges, etc.

  7. If they can pay for it they can get it. Do you honestly expect Business to pay for all benefits?

  8. Or in most cases any coverage at all? I think they DO deserve coverage.  In part because uninsured people will take advantage of the health care system anyway.  Unfortunately, they tend to do so in the most ineffecient, ineffective, expensive way.  They will delay treatment because they lack coverage leading to more complex and advanced illnesses which are more expensive and time consuming to treat.

In the end, the costs will be borne by the insured via their higher premiums.  That's why affordable coverage, even at a basic level, would benefit us all.
