Why doesn't all the speakers work in my surround sound system?

Only three out of 5 speakers function in my surround sound system...whats up with that?

  1. First thing is that you do not have a problem with your system!Most people simply do not know how Dolby 5.1 surround sound works.

    I'm assuming that your speakers are connected correctly and your complaint is that the REAR speakers do not work most of the time.

    Most recorded music as well as standard radio and TV broadcasts ARE NOT broadcast in Dolby 5.1. Newer music concerts are as well as most new DVD movie releases are.The rear speakers are mostly "fill-in" and generally do not put out much sound except when the program requires it.

    You may be able to" force it" by using  the system in 5 speaker stereo mode.
