  2. Well I just read a disgusting answer.  "Jews got their reward.  No holocaust = no israel."   Sorry but something nice after a rape wouldn't ever fix it either.  Also...

Israel was already in the works.  And we worked dammed hard for it -- to give ourselves a way to defend against this kind of thing in the future, with more than begging our host country.

We as Jews spent the money to buy the land, parcel by parcel at prices 10x the going rate for prime farming real estate in the U.S. in the Middle East at the time.  Jews physically made the desert bloom.  The green line boundry between Israel & her neighbors wasn't a vague statement.  You can drive through & see the change to green as you entered Israel!  We fought & lost 1% of our meger population there to keep it, while the world watching waiting for our destruction.  And when we were winning they forced us to stop outside of Cairo & Damascus.  If we'd kept on, maybe we could have forced a real compromise to peace for land & not suffered the next 5 (counting the daily bombings of the intafada.)

We didn't get a reward.  We fought for our survival, instead of rolling over & dying.  He feels sorry for the Germans who suffered instead.  No suffering is good, but if you can't have geniune compassion for the wiping out of a whole peoples on your continent, & 1/3 of their world population is a grosteque way -- you are a lost soul.

    ========================

    To the asker:

Judaism teaches to move forward.  The whole Torah, as WE read it, is the journey of our people to grow & find themselves, their spirituality, the future.

One of Israel's best relationships is with Germany.

It was hard for me to figure things out for a while.  Mostly the question why?  My dad is a survivor.  I did figure out some pieces.  One of the biggest is that this was human behavior.  The German's were efficent (as culturely they often are), but it wasn't an evilness unique to Germans.  From there you start to let go.

Many a survivor can't stand German stuff.  It triggers an emotional reactiveness, that they don't control.  That's understandable.  But for the next generations, we as Jews have lived with hate at us for centuries.  It's still coming & extremely evident on this site that's it's quite real.  However, if we focused on everyone who hated or every time, we'd never get to have our lives & enjoy.  So we build bridges where we can & try to teach others that we are not to be hated.  It's part of Judaism to be "a light unto the nations".  Apparently, in this world, this means, trying to turn hate upright.

The complaints leveled at Israel, well I did research across newspapers around the world especially Arab regional ones, & for each story that sounded bad, it would turn out that Israel's actions were reasonable.  I'm sure stuff happens, no country can be perfect.  However, the more I learn, the more hate I see in the orginators who come up with this stuff.  Then people repeat it unknowningly, thinking their undoing some wrong by making Israel into the bad guy.  It feels better than fighting the hate, & is a lot easier.  For the hate, the first thing that's hard for a lot of people is to face that such bad stuff exists, so they assume that can't be it.

So as much as I keep stopping to defend ourselves, if I got stuck in hate it would ruin me.  Germany did implement laws outlawing Nazism, (although there is a recent rise there that's worrisome.)  They helped Israel.  They have laws against teaching the hate.  They've tried to make some amends.  If we Jews could move on, & accept some good from them, so can other people.

My father has a reaction to German products, & that's natural after his experiences.  However, after the war when he was young, he lived there for 2 years to work on an Army contract.  It's since hit him more fully.  For a survivor I ask nothing.  For the rest of us?

People especially in Europe, did hate the Germans for a long time.  But not so much for what they did to the Jews sadly.  Only for what the Germans did in their own countries.   Oh well.  Someday the hate will all stop.

  3. Not all of Germany was apart of the n**i Regime. The rest get a pass for a momentary lapse of brain function.

  4. at this point it would be like hating americans because they had slaves... yes it was terrible and we should always remember but we need to move on

  5. Because you shouldn't hate people for things that were done by their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. The wartime generation of Germany is mostly gone, so those alive today are not culpable.

  6. Why dont Jewish people hate romans. or australians hate british.

  7. well i dont because that way YEARS ago and i hate people that hold grudges against other races for past events.. if the world hated every german for what they did to jews their would be no peace. Not like there is any now but you get my point. It happened years ago, we've moved on. Plus look how rich jews are now, they own most of hollywood... And there not making as big of deal about it as you are lol

  8. I am 1/2 German and I have never done a thing to anyone.

Follow up, apparently I have been an evil doer to 2 ppl. lol

  9. Why do we hate americans!!

because they forgetting that they from europe

and they put our people in slavery

  10. I hate them to and becuase they beat Mexico in soccer

but they mean and the German girls are Manly

  11. I wouldn't say that. And it wasn't all (Germans)of them. Just like slavery in America it wasn't only whites who owned slaves. And it wasn't every white person. There are so many race that got the short end of the stick one way or another. Learn from the past or you are doomed to repeat it.

  12. Because n***s do not dominate Germany

  13. because it's would be like if christians hated the italians(romans) because they killed jesus(or hating the jews for killing jesus--meaning not having taken a history class)

besides---it was german ancestors who killed not the new ones

but the n***s that are still alive should definetely be hated

    the neo-n***s too

  14. I'm sure there are some who do.  However, you're generalizing the whole thing.  The German people themselves are so disgusted with Adolf Hitler that it is actually illegal to raise your hand as though you were giving the n**i salute.  Most of the people today had nothing to do with the atrocities of WWII.  Should they be punished for it?  Should white Americans be punished for slavery?  Should Japanese children bear the burden of Nanjing?  History should teach us about what was done wrong so that those things don't get repeated.  Hatred of a group because of what happened in the distant past doesn't solve anything.

  15. Because most (not all, but most) of the people who committed those crimes are now dead.

Think about it - if the people were aged between 18 and let's say 60 in 1941, that means they'd be between 85 and 127 years old today.  Obviously most of them are therefore dead.

And what would be the point of hating someone for what their parents or grandparents did?  The vast majority of modern Germans despise the actions of the n***s as much as you and I do.

  16. We, as in America? I guess pointing a finger at them would be hypocritical.  This nation was founded under blood- we ourselves procured a genocide.  We killed countless numbers of Native Americans, and ruined the lives of many African Americans as well.

Not all Germans were a part of the holocaust.  I know many older folks that weren't jewish but German and they suffered as well.  I wouldn't hate the Germans today, but perhaps learn and understand why such a terrible thing happened so as to avoid a recurrance.

  17. No, nor do I hate the Japanese for terrorizing the Pacific and Asia. The Japanese drove my ancestors out of their homeland and attacked my future homeland (U.S.). Many died painful deaths but I don't blame today's generation.

  18. Because none of those Germans are still alive... well, not many anyways.  Innocent people shouldnt be hated.

  19. Most of the Germans involved in the Holocaust are dead.  Would you hold a grudge against someone who had nothing to do with it?  If you do, then you have a SERIOUS personality problem and should be seeing someone professionally.

  20. Concur with the first poster.  You can't hold grudges because most of that generation has died out.  I'm not saying forget what happened or get over it, but hating will only cause it to happen again.

  21. Not all German were or are n***s. My grandparents and my mother were German and most definitely not n***s. This is an extremely narrow view and a waste of "hate". Save it for someone who warrants it!!

  22. because we have brains.. and dont live in the past.. hate is a negative emotion....why live your life in hate??? have a coke and a smile dude

  23. because that was long ago, civilizations change. why don't africans hate us for slavery?

  24. Why doesn't anybody hate Americans for slavery?

  25. They did for quite a while.

In the 1980s, if you asked for directions with a German accent, you almost always got bad directions from anyone over 40.  Yank or British accent?  Amazing how much better the directions got.

By now, most of the people who lived thru that era have died of old age.  The next generation had stories from the old folks, but they also had their own experiences.  And with those experiences, the hate dies off.

  26. the germans have made great efforts at atonement, and after the war, reverted back to their status as on of the most progressive countries in europe.  hitler capitalized on a bad situation in which germany was suffering under the consequences of the first world war; because of economic repression from the victors, germany was ripe for an evil dictatorship.  so if you're going to hate, hate the drafters of the versailles treaty, too, and the american and european powers that tried to keep germany down instead of rebuilding it.

  27. Not all Germans were n***s

    Not all n***s were German

  28. Innocent German civilians more than paid for what their government did at the end of WWII.  Dresden, the Morganthau plan, and the unmentionable atrocieties committed against ethnic Germans in Eastern Europe after the war more than paid the price.  Besides no holocaust equals no Israel.  The Jews have their reward, what did the German woman who had their babies melted in their arms get in return for atrocities committed against them?

  29. Not all germans were partof that some where jews... And it was just the n***s most n***s (At least all known) r dead and it was a long time ago!

  30. condemning an entire nation and their children and their childrens' children because of the evil a few of their grandfathers did doesn't seem a reasonable thing to do...

those who committed those crimes should be brought to justice... but all of the current nation of germany is not guilty of what some of their ancestors did.

  31. They got the beat down of their life. I think they were subdued enough into changing a lot of minds. All Germans were not in on this. Some actually a lot of them helped. The Germans acts at the time and today are still repudiated but they have turned over a new leaf. The Jews got Israel, and Germany was given a great lesson in why we should not be bullies.
