  1. cuz they like thier cars

  2. Taking a scientific approach, I researched several scientific databases. After reading the NASA data where they talk about how the surface temperature of all nine planets in the solar system is rising in direct relationship to their distance from the sun (except Jupiter which is also warming from it's own internal heat), and how they measured that - I don't worry about global warming anymore.

I can't change the heat output of the sun nor the solar cycles, nor can I change the surface temperatures of the other planets. These things are simply beyond my power to even influence.

  3. eating meat helps stop global warming..duh....

    less cows. less methane.....

  4. What I eat has no effect upon solar activity (the true cause of this warming trend).  I will have as many children as I want, even if that means making more room on this planet for them.  Anyone in this country may elect at any time to have themselves surgically rendered infertile.  People should live by their convictions.

  5. Trees have nothing to do with Methane.. All plants process CO2. I have worked with gas for years and still can only find a trace of Methane..This is stupid to blame something as responsible for GW and it is not there....

  6. There is an inverse relationshipship between the number of kids people have and their ability to raise them properly. The wise people are having fewer children, ensuring a below average future.

  7. everyone just die, no people, no global warming haha, the sun causes global warming, look at mars its warming as well.

  8. Yeah I really don't think it's that simple.....

  9. It's more accurate to say, don't eat conventionally raised meat. I agree that CAFOs and other conventional livestock operations (and the conventional grain farming practices that support them)  are extremely detrimental to the environment, but in many parts of the world, including large sections of the American West, it is unrealistic to expect to satisfy humanity's nutritional needs without the addition of meat. The soils and climate are simply not good enough to support the variety of vegetable foods that would be required, and when you start shipping food in from other regions, you become part of the problem again.

Exclusively grassfed livestock, raised in traditional ways, negate many of the environmental problems posed by modern conventional practices (among other things, properly managed pastures are good carbon sinks) and are also more humane for the animals and more healthy for the consumer.

  10. Some people do.  Not too long ago there was a story about a woman who refused to have children because of the environmental problems associated with overpopulation.  A lot of people on this forum mocked her, as a matter of fact.

I've asked a few questions about the impact of eating meat here as well.

You're right that these are 2 big ways an individual can help address global warming, and I agree they should get more attention.

  11. Because people wish to stick their heads in the sand.

Those people who said eating meat means fewer cows, are you serious?  Cows are raised to be eaten.  Fewer people eating meat=fewer cows being raised.  It's not like they're just gonna put them out to pasture or something.

Most developed countries are already reducing their number of kids per family.  It's the developing countries that are producing more people than are dieing.  If not for immigration, the US and most of Europe would have shrinking populations.

  12. let's look at you questions, one at a time.

there was a huge movement in the 70's,  zero population growth.

of course China and India didn't get the memo.

and of course the Government must not have gotten the memo either, they continued to give women on welfare, more money for each child that they bore, there by encouraging them to have more children instead of less.

Of course China has instituted the one child law. but there are still millions of people all over the world, that believe that having as many children as they can, means security for their old age, IE, more children to care for them in their old age.

Now to the other question, don't eat meat, and you pointed out that cows eat 10 pounds of grain for ever pound that they produce.

my question is what do you do with these cows, if instead of eating them, you let them keep on producing and they are still eating the grain?

take a look at India, one again, to them the cow is sacred, and therefore not eaten, as a result, they are over run with cattle and are experiencing famine because the cattle are eating their food supply.
