Why doesn't breakfast have appetizers?

I mean, its the most important meal of the day. You're probably more hungry waiting on breakfast to get served to you then any other meal. Lunch and supper both have appetizers, why not breakfast?

Maybe because most people don't have the time to eat breakfast like they do lunch and dinner.  They want to get their day going as soon as possible.

"Appetizers" historically are a product of a luxurious lifestyle indulged in by the wealthy leisure class.  This upper-upper-upper class did not historically grant much importance to breakfasts.  The whole "most important meal of the day" thing is for mere working drones who have to fuel up to labor for the benefit of their superiors.  The superior beings of the upper classes could afford to spend their mornings at light and idle pursuits and not worry about eating a proper meal until later in the day.

Thus, the social class that invented "appetizers" never saw any need to have a large breakfast in the first place.  Large breakfasts, traditionally, are a hallmark of being lower class laboring drones or peasants.  Laboring drones and peasants don't get appetizers.

I don't want an appetizer for breakfast, all I want is a croissant and coffee.  Maybe the croissant can be the appitizer and coffee main course

Brian, that is a funny question.  From the time I was about 3 I spent weekends with my oldest brother and his wife. Each Saturday and Sunday  mornings for breakfast they had 3 courses. A cookie, then cereal or toast and eggs, and another cookie or two afterwards. Needless to say they are both huge. I am glad I haven't found the need to keep up that breakfast ritual for myself.

Why not? Sounds good to me. Guess you could order something like sausage and bacon as soon as you sit down then when you were waiting for your breakfast order to come you would have something to much on.

Each restaurant has there own set of rules but will sometimes vary. Most have breakfast specials, lunch specials and dinner specials. In order to keep up with all the food they make, they must divide them into groups. I live near many diners that serve breakfast all day long and you can then get what you want. Many times they will accommodate you......just ask or try another place. The fare for breakfast is the usual foods. Check out the appetizers, as some places do have them all day. You just need to ask and see.

actually, sometimes juice is served before breakfast as an apetizer. Also, sometimes cereal or museli is served before the main course at a fancy breakfast. So there.
