Question:

Why doesn't everyone just respect other people's presidential choice?

It is a blessing that we live in a country in which we have the RIGHT to make these decisions. It doesn't matter the reason why someone is or isn't voting for someone, it is THEIR constitutional right to make the choice. What is so hard about just listening to the REAL issues and each candidate's proposals and then making a decision and allowing other people to make theirs? Why does it have to get so nasty and trivial? I am not naive, I fully understand politics, but I just wish people wouldn't judge others for their choice. We all have different issues that are important to ourselves.

I personally don't even think the candidates should attack each other, they are both great guys they just have different views on the issues. Just tell us why you are the best choice and STHU, is what I think.

Just my opinion. What is yours?

  1. I agree with you. We live in the U.S. and have the right to choose our candidate by voting for that person.

  2. Ok, I'll give you the fact that our system allows for those to vote for who they think is best.  Are they both "great guys" NO!  and what's excites me the most is...to the victor goes the spoils!  In November, that will be Conservatives!

  3. I think it's because George Bush and the Neo-cons have successfully divided the nation using non-issues like abortion rights, g*y marriage, school prayer, etc.      All in order to divert American's attention away from the REAL issues like the occupation of Iraq, our faltering position on the world economic stage and our lack of energy independence.

  4. Because we're all monkeys!

  5. It would be nice in theory, but it's natural for people to defend their choices.  When we'e making a decision as important as choosing a president, we want to hear other people's opinions and we want to share ours.  I truly believe in my candidate and his running mate and I truly fear his opponent and his potential for ruining my life over the next four years.  Therefore, while I respect your right to choose the candidate of your choice, I will try to share my opinons (based on the factual information I've gleaned about my candidates) so I can persuade those who are undecided to support the better pair of candidates.  In the end, though, you'll vote for your choice and I'll vote for mine.  With God's help McCain and Palin will win.

  6. That I don't agree with you about much of anything.. in theory maybe but  it is hard to understand why anyone would vote republican.. I just can not understand the misery..

  7. and have you noticed how fox and the rest of the corporate media is loath to acknowledge the existance of any other party but  the corrupt Ds and Rs ? me ? im voting Nader for a real change .

  8. I think George Carlin would have made a good president!!

  9. Fear, Greed, and Wealth are a volatile cocktail which political leaders drink and serve.  The enormous and seemingly infinite material resources accruing in the United States from Industrial and Technical growth is a temptation beyond the integrity of many.

The person in the Oval Office is an engineer on a tremendous Industrial and Technical freight train.  The human condition is subject to a variety of corrupt opportunities.

Mainstream Americans are lest than familiar with the possibility or responsibility of a billion dollars.  Leaders are required to control and manage multiple billions.  A million is insignificant anymore.

Political strategists know the odds and the stakes.  This is their livelihood.  For them it is life and death.  Anything goes at this level.  Hate among candidates  or voters is a minor consequence in comparison the the rewards of winning.

  10. i think that.....

arguing over the internet is fun :D:D:D

but i agree we shouldnt take it for granted because we all know that china is going to take over the world :D jk

but we should respect other ppls choices

  11. I think thats an issue a lot of americans have. Only what you think matters and if someone else feels different then they are retarded and the scum of the earth. Then the election is over and they are friends again. I think its dumb and I agree candidates should not attack each other.

  12. lipsticked pitbull will poo on your weave if you are obamabot

  13. Because I do not think we will have the rights you talk about  unless we start upholding the Constitution. There is a point where 'lets all get along is unrealistic'  I am pretty shre it was John Adams walked out after the Constitution was finally signed. Some one waiting asked him "What have you given us sir?" to which he replied 'A democracy if you can keep it.  They did a very good job and our democracy with its check and balance system its justice system its entire way of dealing with religious and secular freedom that has been a model among democrarcies.  Many do not survive because they are not crafted to be secular and full of checks and balances. .

John McCain who opposed torture in his speech ridiculed the fact that Obama believes in Habeus Corpus. Then he turns around and says I am going to represent everyone.  Good luck We cannot ask Sarah Palin anything because she is not going to give press inteviews. Any of us who has been a leader on an issue has to face the press and answer questions.  I guess she cannot face all the exaggerations and misrepresentation and the nasty personal way she did them.

I think there is a lot more at stake here than the lack of issue to discuss on the McCain side, I see a fundamental and fundamentalist assault on what I value most in the Constitution.  The sense of justice and fairness to all people.  Its secular balance so that every religious belief can flourish.

On the economy I see no one talking about how we pay off our debt to China before they own too much of our economy and continue to grow and prosper at our expense.  Their banks did not collapse.  They have our interest money. Failure to address this will not help our economy so I cannot bury my head in the sand and say that its okay if we teach intelligent design when we have been slipping against other industrialized nations for years in the sciences. It okay for McCain to make fun of the enviroment issues and Palin to deny global warming and think the Alaskan pipeline is "God's will"

So I guess it will just keep being unpleasant.  McCain has no issues except those that  he listed that are Obama's but he is not committed to them and has no real plans.  Then in his way to cover himself he says he will take any good ideas and not care who gets credit which is a phoney way to avoid being accused of plagerism. Standard corrupt politician fare. And frankly not worthy of John McCain I think he has lost his perspective.  If he really wants to represent everyone why did he pick someone that is so nasty, so false and so totally unprepared to lead this wonderful and diverse nation?  And how do we get the issues of different plans and policies and how they work when no one reads any of them or thinks them through.

I am not naive nor am I inexperienced in political lobbying etc.  What many people find outrageous I find just same old politics, but not this time.  It the future I am tired of hearing acheivement and hard academic work belittled.  I am tired of seeing a profession that actually makes lives better and increases our understanding of the world "dumbed down" do the fear and beliefs of religious radicals that is not what our Constitution is.

Listening to the real issues is very hard since one has to go to politifact.com or fact check to even get a handle on if the candiate is telling the truth or if the bloggers are telling the truth.

So for me this is not just lets all discuss real issues and real problems because we will all suffer or benefit from a mature open and honest dialogue.  But science against religion, our rights and morality vs anything for ware and personal safety concept.  The elite calling the educated who work hard eltie.  This is not just, or fair or American

It is putting winning a war and John McCain winning an election above our rights, his obligation to pick a prepared VP and our rights to good government.

So guess it continues.  I cannot wait for all the trash for trying to explain my deeply held covictive after 40 years of political activism.
