Why doesn't it snow in the summer?

considering that it is one of the hottest parts of the year why doesn't weather permit it to snow? it would help go a long way in cooling things down for those of us who can not stand the heat

  1. Even if you had temperatures near freezing at the surface your temperatures above the surface would be way too warm for snow in summer.

    Snow is not frozen rain.. per se.    It is frozen ice crystals that aggregrate together..


  2. It's simple....the temperature in the summer is not cold enough to keep the rain/precipitation frozen. It has to be at least 32 degrees in the part of the atmosphere where the clouds are.

    When it's too hot, guess what?

    It can't freeze.
