They are curious and constantly learning and have a lot of questions about life in general, why would you want them to shut up? They are innocent and Im sure you did the same thing as a child, thats how they learn..

It's why "don't" kids shut up.  And I have to laugh at this, because this is something frustrating for anyone who works with kids =] I know exactly how you feel!!!!!!!!!!!!!  All I can say, is that it's part of being a kid.  There are a million reasons they talk and ask questions, but just remember this.  They will only talk as much as you let them.  If you need some quiet time, tell them they can't talk for 10 minutes, or tell them to go read a book.  You are the adult, so you can set the rules.  If your kids won't stop talking, tell them they have to do it in another room so you can have a little break =]

At the age that children talk constantly they are learning the fastest they ever will in their life.   They will retain everything they hear and see but may not demonstrate until later.  As a parent of a 16 yo and a 4 yo I am infinitely more careful about what I say and do in front of them.  The younger one is just trying to learn more the older if giving serious problem because of the way I acted and things I said when she was younger.

They are only that age once, be careful.
