well if we all used leaves as money, then no one would want them because everyone already has loads of them.

people want somethink that is hard to get, and money is hard to get. if there wasnt any difficulty in aquireing it, no one would want it and it would be worthless.

Because it is scientifically impossible to do so. I have heard about the news story though, about a tree being so expensive due to its locality-I think thats the store, anyway :/

I use to pretend my mum's hydrangea was a bank and use the big leaves as pound notes - so money does grow on bushes when you're 6.

Money is a means of exchange.  You could use pebbles as a means of exchange if you all accepted that as legal tender.  

So to say money doesn't grow on trees, is false.  In some countries coconuts might actually be a means of exchange.   Coconuts grow on trees!

Trees are actually the main ingredient in paper, which money is made from.  Money does grow on trees!

What you need in life is food, water, shelter.  These all grow, and can be built from trees.
