Why doesn't my DVR play on my DVD player?

I downloaded a clip from YouTube.com. I burned the clip to a DVR disc. Now it wont play. What did I do wrong?

  1. As a data disk? Did you convert to dvd? If so maybe you can only play +r or -R as you do not specify.

It is possible the DVD player cannot support the format you recorded the disk in.  When I bought a DVD player a year ago, I asked the sales clerk what the $30 difference was between two otherwise identical-looking machines.  He explained that the higher priced one could read certain recorded disks that were made on computers and the other one couldn't.  Apparently there are several different formats used for recording, depending on your computer software, and they are not all compatible or interchangeable with each other or the devices used to watch them.

    Try a different player, or recording it in a different format (it is also possible to convert the clip you have to a different format).  Sorry, can't help you there.
