Question:

Why doesn't my PS2 port work?

The system was working just fine, then the next time we turned the system on, port one didn't work at all. When the browser comes up, I can use port 2 and both of my controllers work fine (in port 2), but port one will not work at all. If I could just use port two that would be fine, but the games require a controller in port one, which it will not recognize. Can anyone take a guess as to what is wrong? Or, is there a way to switch it around so that port 2 is what is recognized as controller 1? The memory card slot above port 1 also works fine. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

  1. Try cleaning the ports, take a vacuum cleaner or a can of compressed air to it.

Other than that, if it still doesn't work then your controller port has died. If it's an old PS2 then it's to be expected, but if it's new (within a year) contact Sony about it.
