When I'm driving my car is sporadically hesitant to speed up, so I have to use extra force on the gas pedal. What could cause this?

  1. take it into a garage/car fixit place and they will run a scanner and fin the problem

  2. blocked air filter, too much free flow of air

    old petrol,

    broken or crimped vaccum hose,

    blocked fuel filter,

timing belt jumped a tooth (quite common)

worn rotor, dizzy cap or spark plugs, leads

    air fuel mixture sensor,

the list could go on and on

    take it to a garage!

  3. what car is it? Could be the throttle body that isn't opening up as it should.

  4. If you have to use "extra force" I'm guessing you mean you have to stomp the peddle to make it work. I would think that either something is binding the accelerator cable "kinked, rusted, catching on another component", or binding the linkage on the throttle body. You need to isolate which one is your problem. Disconnect the cable at the throttle body and see if its still binding up, if it isn't then reconnect it and try again to see if its the linkage.

  5. Look under the foot pedal and see if there is a Dead Cat under it. THAT could 'esplane why you don't go fast.

Otherwise, TAKE IT to a repair shop. You have not told us enough to make any judgment on the matter.

  6. gas caught up in the tank

  7. it could be a number of different things: pinched vacuum hose, oxygen sensor and just plain old bad gas.....you may want to try lester's fuel injector cleaner.....you can find this at auto zone....its about 5 dollars.....or you can try the chevron techron treatment as well that is about 10.....see if that doesn't resolve your issue first.....

  8. AutoZone will scan that sucker for free!

Or you could drive down here...I have a OBD scanner!

And cold Lone Star Beer, Yeeeeeeeeehaaa!
