Why doesn't my computer recognize my camcorder?

Question

When I connect my sony camcorder to my computer ( Windows XP, all updates installed) in "My Computer", it does not say that anything is connected. It's worked a bunch of times, but the last time I tried it didn't work.I am not sure what the problem is. Also, I am 100% sure everything is connected properly, so don't tell me to reconnect.

Reinstall the software they it came with maybe?

u might need a cd...after you install it reset your computer
