  1. Call the phone company. There's either a problem on the outside box or you haven't paid your bill.

  2. Sometimes you have to reset the line b/c there is a surge. Unplug all of your telephones from the jacks. if it also plugs into both the electrical outlet and telephone jack, (ex. a cordless phone, answering machine), then unplug it from the electrical outlet as well. Once everything is unplugged, wait three minutes. Plug in a regular (not cordless) phone first, and it should work. I worked for Bellsouth repair for a while, and this scenario was 90% of the calls I'd get.

    Hope this helps

  3. If you are on a router set up (wireless system that controls your internet etc) switch it off for a few minutes and then on again.  I had this issue with my home phone and it seemed to fix it.  Everything else was working, but I had no dial tone on my landline.   If you don't have this set up - don't know - could be the individual handset with an issue - email the phone company :)

  4. how did you check all the phones...

when you call into your line and it is busy, or goes straight to voice mail, there is a short in the line.. usualy a defective phone... unplug ALL of your phones, fax, satellite box, alarm system.. anything that uses dial tone, then call into your number, if still ringing busy, bring a corded phone to your NID and test there, if still no dial tone, call your local phone company for repairs..

  5. Did you pay your bill?
