Question:

Why doesn't my mom believe me?

Yesterday I went out with a guy (school doesn't start until Monday so its not a school night) and my curfew is usually at 10 and although I argue about it being early all of the time I had every intention of going home on time but we didn't go to the movies like we planned because it was too crowded and the movie we were going to see was sold out (we live in a small town so this happens a lot) so we went to his place instead to watch a movie he rented from Netflix and we fell asleep and when I woke up it was 5 in the morning! When I got home my mom was angry and I tried to tell her nothing happened but she won't believe me and accused me of trying to rebel about my curfew and now she's grounded me until I tell the truth but I did! What should I do? Why won't she believe what I say?

  1. well if i was your mom, i would get mad too. and would assume "things" happened. i wouldnt be mad for "rebelling against curfew" but mad that you were sleeping with a boy til 5 am.

just explain and say its nothing to do with curfew.

  2. Sweetie if your mom was anything like mine was, she probably spent half the night worrying about you. You didn't call home to let her know about your change of plans  and in turn you damaged the trust your mom had in you.

Right now your mom is probably very hurt and angry. I think you need to tell your mom you were wrong for not calling home and informing her of your change of plans, you were wrong for falling asleep at a boys house, and ask her what you can do to gain her trust back.

  3. You should just say I really fell asleep but realize I was wrong and made you worry I am sorry and I accept whatever punishment you choose. Then maybe she will see you are telling the truth.

How old are you by the way?

If my child did not come home all night I would have probably called the cops. Lesson here set an alarm on your cell phone from now on in case this happens.

  4. just tell here
