We have a new LCD TV and are using a satellite service. We are getting " unusable signal" on the screen. The satellite service is saying we need to upgrade to an HDTV service $$$$$. Can we get this working without doing this? Thanks for your help.

  2. Wow, well considering thats all that it is I would advise calling the tech support for the TV, it just sounds to me like you have it on the wrong input and it needs to be switched to a different one, a process they would outline depending on your TV model.  Either that or you don't have it plugged in to the right place or at all.  I would stay away from the satellite providers tech support though they are generally useless and when you call they want nothing more than to push you off the phones and get rid of you for the next caller, I know I used to work for Dish Network and I actually got wrote up for taking the time to help the customer.  However if when the TV tech support helps you out and you get it to the right input for the receiver you may unfortunately still have to call tech support for the satellite provider, if that happens do a follow up with your provider company before you call them, I "may " be able to help you. I put that in quotes because its been a while since I worked there.

  3. plug it in

  4. I agree with Mr Lizard, make sure the tv is on the correct input then scan for channels if you need to. It should work without having to upgrade to hdtv. You won't get an hdtv signal but you should get the other digital and analog channels.
