Why doesn't my rat like wood chews?

For some reason my rat doesn't seem to like wood chews at all. She never chews on them. Why isn't she? She'll chew on other things, but not wood. Is this a problem for her teeth, will they become overgrown? I've had her for a while, so she's used to everything.

  1. My rabbit ran into a wall and his teeth got messed up,before that they were fine without anything to chew, try having her chew cardboard, and if her teeth become a problem, have them removed, my rabbit had his front teeth removed and he chews fine with his back teeth. Good Luck!

  2. Rats don't have to have a taste for everything. None of mine ever really cared for wood much either, however, they loved chewing the cage lol. It really depends on what your rat prefers. Don't force them to chew on wood if they don't like it, try using other crunchy treats instead to figure out what they DO like. You can go to local pet stores and find all kinds of things. Goodluck!

  3. Some rats do not and it is normal. They likely have naturally filed teeth from their food and other sources where they do not need the wood. All three of my rats have never needed to chew wood

  4. My rats are very high maintenance & they wont eat anything i don't eat ,they don't even like rats food or rat treats, they wont eat crackers without a topping wont eat normal veg without some fish, they don't eat raw veg either ,i think rats are just spoilt thats why.
