Why doesn't my upside catfish ever swim upside down?

Why doesn't my upside catfish ever swim upside down?

He always hides untill feeding time then feeds on the bottom like a cory.

he/she is most probly sick it happened to my freinds. didn't know till it

the upside down catfish spends most of its time on the ceiling of caves in the aquarium. like bats, they "hang around" upsidedown. obviously, you wouldn't see them inside a cave. the way around that is to provide a large pot or bogwood with an arch for the catfish to hide in.of course, it should be positioned so that you can see the fish inside their cave.

another option is  a large piece of wood with branches under which the fish will swim. basically, any structure with an overhanging surface will work

have a look on his/her body if it has 3 vertical bands down the sides of its body it indicates stress

also upside down catfish dont like a lot of light they feed from the floating foods

Maybe he's sick - ask the person you got it from.

it could be sick or he/she likes doing that....happens to mine b4 and I never knew it was sick untill he died... :(
