Why doesn't pavlik fight winky wright. that could be worth big bucks if he knocks out the man no one can??

winky is looking for an opponent and i dont want to see pavlik fight some dumb warm up. winky, to me is the best challenger to the middle weight thrown. why cant bob arum make this happen?

Anyone that fights Winky loses.  I don't mean to say that Winky is undefeated, which he isn't.  But anyone who fights him either:

A)  Looks really, really bad in losing

B)  Looks really, really bad in winning a decision that will be debated for at least a decade (see: Fernando Vargas)

C)  Looks really, really bad in a draw that will be moaned and groaned about for at least a decade (see: Jermaine Taylor)

Either way you slice this pot-roast, it makes for some lousy sandwiches.  Pavlik needs to be looking for fights that he can look good in AND will provide an element of challenge.  True, a fight with Winky would be challenging, but so would fixing a flat tire using only popcorn shrimp and a comb.  It simply does not make any sense.

Winky is in the who needs them club ... therefore he will not get a shot at Pavlik ..... Pavlik has got many options including moving up a weight to face Calzaghe or .... how about this one getting Mayweather to come up in weight to fight him ...... Apart from that he has the Duddy's of this world to beat up on and a great chance (politics aside) to unify the titles....

Chris Guzman deserves best answer on this one, he hit the nail on the head.

You cant really win against Winky. Even when Winky loses the other fighter never comes out looking good.

Only way Pavlik would be able to look good against him is if he can catch him with upper cuts.

because wright lost his last fight (to bernard hopkins), and may not fight at middleweight any more.

pavlik has a fight lined up for june against an as-yet un-named opponent.

I don't think Winky can withstand pavliks power.  Pavlik throws a great amount of punches and with great accuracy, that makes me think that Winky can withstand.  Plus, Winky is not an exciting fighter.  This would make big bucks, but not as many as when Pavlik fought Taylor.  If Pavlik wants a big fight, he shoud take on Trinidad at 165 or 160(pavliks ideal weight).  The other way to go is to fight de la hoya at 160 or 155(oscars ideal weight).  That way, he makes big bucks.  I said these two guys because he has a legitimate chance at beating these two guys.  If he went on to fight bernard, calzaghe, or jones jr, i don't know if he can withstand their power and technique.  But it would also be nice to see those fights too.  But Winky is not what Pavlik needs.
