Why doesn't the American government force employers to give employees vacation time?

Other countries get about 2- 5 weeks of paid vacation time per year. American employers aren't mandated to give any vacation time. Why is that?

s***w the vacation time. EVery employer. whether you are part time or full time should be required to offer you AFFORDABLE health insurance.. It's sick to live in America and not be able to even afford to go to a md if you get sick. I am not talking about seeing a Md for something like a cold.. I am talking about a legit illness. Employees will deliberately hire people and work them part time so they don't have to provide benefits. I know companies that will work employees 31 hours a week because at 32 they have to provide insurance. That is just sick..

Because Vacation time like sick leave is a BENEFIT that an employer may choose to provide not a RIGHT for an employee to demand.

Free Enterprise.  When our government thinks they have that much power, I for one will take up arms against it.

I don't know that other countries mandate that businesses give vacation time.  Most US employers do give time off, and most states require that if an employer promises vacation time, they must give it.  

Be careful what you ask for.  You can bet that if federal or state governments mandated a set amount of vacation time (say 2 weeks for example) that is ALL most businesses would give, even if they give more now.

beacuse if you dont like were your working you either should have went to college or gotten a new job its not you employers fault if you dont go to school then do drugs mcdonalds shouldnt be forced to give you 2-5 weeks when your a bad employee

Why is it that France and Germany gov'ts are pushing for for a longer work week?.

Become an employeer and you can do what ever you want.

Because we're not socialists on this side of the pond and many of wish that the socialists that live here would just get up and move to one of the socialist paradises they seem to love so much instead of continuing to try to ruin this country.
