Question:

Why doesn't the Mac Leopard download work on my computer?

I put in the disk, the Mac Leopard window pops up, then it has the "download Mac Leopard" icon and so, I click on it. It tells me to click "OK" to restart the computer. So, I do. My computer restarts, but just before it finishes, the Mac Leopard disk comes out. I don't want to go to the smart bar or whatever at the Mac store, and just wanted some advice from you.

  1. What you need to do is boot from the DVD.

    - Put in the DVD, but don't do anything else with it.

    - Wait until it's done mounting the DVD, and then restart your computer.

    - Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold the c key.

    - Keep holding it.

When you see the "Welcome to Mac OS X" you can let go. You'll be ready to install.

Note that if it *still* kicks out the DVD, your computer might not be Leopard compatible. Use the System Profiler utility to compare your computer's spec's to Apple's web site minimal requirements for Lepoard (link below)

    Good Luck
