Why doesn't the U.N. or the U.S., basically even the entire international community do anything about the genocide in Darfur? It's been too long and it's the time to stop it.

  1. The US has asked the Chinese to negotiate with Darfur because they do a lot of business together.

  2. because they can't do anything in Darfur. the government of Sudan has to let the UN go into their country, which of course they're not willing to do. if the UN sent in troops without Sudan's permission, it would be considered an act of war.

  3. Because of China's involvement. China is supplying military support in exchange for access to Sudan's oil fields.

  4. What's the big deal about Darfur? Do you know how long I've been trying to get a stop sign on my street?Well it's been 4 years and I have received no help from anyone in Darfur and I'm sure they don't care about my problems. My church sent a bag of rice to Darfur so it should be 100% better there now. Calm down it was a big bag..The UN is doing a fine job.

  5. The USA's "humanitarian" intervention in Iraq resulted in a million deaths and five million refugees and turned Iraq into one of the world's worst failed states. So the cure was far worse than the disease. The USA has intervened in Haiti four times the past century, and it's still one of the hemisphere's poorest and moist undemocratic countries. I could list dozens of other cases where "humanitarian" intervention has made things worse, not better. Studies have shown that maybe one out of three humanitarian interventions (aka invasions) has resulted in a  stable reasonably democratic state.

In Sudan's case it would be a hugely expensive undertaking with a high risk of failure. That's why.

Also, world leaders may talk the talk about democracy and genocide, in reality very few give a flying fig about such things, their purpose is to protect the wealth of the very rich.
