Do that for a couple years, everyone will be happy, then declare bankrupcy. Seriously, what are they going to do, send the repo man out for Fort Knox?

  1. The US govt is not yet taken over oil and become the socialist/fascist that some think they should be. It is the wonderful govt who has caused the problem. The fed govt makes more per gallon from taxes than the evil oil company. It is our wonderful govt that prevents us from drilling in oil-rich places. It is our wonderful govt that insists on higher blends in the summer. It is our govt that taxed the crp out of the oil companies in the 80's which caused the companies to lose so much money, screwed up the economy, and left those evil oil companies no money to explore alternative fuels.!

  2. The problem is we're having to import more oil. I think that if Alaska didn't pay its citizens 10k a year just for living there, it wouldn't be so much. They pay Alaskans 10k a year b/c of all the oil they have there. How much of a rip off is that?!? The people in North Carolina don't het 10k because they have a lot of Christmas Trees.

  3. So, the government which can't even manage to run a cafeteria is who you want controlling the price of essential commodities?

Price caps result in one thing - shortages. Companies won't be selling any gas if they're losing money on it.

  4. They should but they will use any excuse to raise prices.  I sometimes wonder if people in positions of power are in favor of it because it will reduce or dependence on other countries and help the environment which people do want but they need a better way for us to get to work on a day to day basis.

  5. the goverment does not want it lowered

in my opinion they favorite it for one reason: MONEY

and its time for us to do something about

  6. why should they?  americans still get into a car, if they have to go farther than 50 feet.

if gas was that low, people would just buying like tanks and stuff to roll down the road in.

maybe you should find more self reliant ways to move yourself around.  or at least get an ethanol vehicle so the tax money stays in the us

in opec countries gas is like 50 cents a gallon.

  7. Come after Fort Knox for what?  We aren't on the gold standard anymore, which if you look at it, is when all the salaries (of CEOs) and costs (health care, education, and now gas) started rising.  Just my thought though.

  8. R U Jimmy Carter in Drag ?

  9. the gas prices are going up because the gas companies have to pay more to get oil

  10. If you had lemons in your front yard, but your mother wouldn't let you use them for your lemonade stand, and so you had to buy your lemons from the guy down the street to make your lemonade, and he charged you more for your lemons, what would you do?
