In the South Osettian-Georgia dispute.

Is it because GWB has wasted (carelessly used) the USA resources?

Was Georgia wise in attacking the independent-Russian backed South Osettia.

South Osettia declared independence several years ago and were recognized by Russia. (It matters not, that the US and its allies have not.) They have been governing themselves in spite of Geogia's claims.

  1. S.Ossetia has been a de facto independent state since 1991-2. The tiny population of 70,000 carry Russian passports. I agree with Tyler and Technotopian. The cretin Georgian president who started this conflict deserves to go back to America. He should try his ethnic cleansing in S. Los Angeles instead and see how far he gets there.

  2. You so want to protect the killer of civil people? Why?

South Osetia WAS NOT recognized by Russia as independent country, even after Kosovo trick.

  3. When we(USA) have lost our moral compass what would you have us do?

We do not have the economic strength, the Navy is on it's way to the area as we speak, so the only thing left is to show off our military might, and hope that no one calls our bluff.

  4. In today's world only those who still believe and subscribe to the notion that we are the only superpower in the world will think we do have those elements to tell the Russians what to do. In reality there are more than one superpowers in the world and Russia happens to be one of them. To add on to our list of problems is that we have entangled ourselves with many of the worlds problems and conflicting alliances and dependencies that we can no longer throw our weight around like before in fear of upsetting others who might have leverage. One example would be China. Our government brags about how we will rush to Taiwan's aid if invaded by China but this recent conflict in Georgia has proved not only to the Chinese but the world that all those talks by our leaders are really nothing more than just bulltalk with no weight. Considering how dependent we are on China and the massive trillions of dollars of our currency they hold I don't think we will do anything to upset them. As sad as it is this is what our nation's double standard policies have yielded. On one hand we tell the world and our allies one thing and on the other we do the opposite.

  5. > Looks like Saakashvili is sold, for russian neutrality during Iran invasion, I suppose.

    Yep - http://www.independent.co.uk/multimedia/...

    :)

  6. McCain would probably start another arms race. That is something republicans would love. No money for programs to help americans but plenty of money for weapons. Georgia attack Ossetia and will probably do it again in the future. So what do we do to avoid a confrontation with Russia? If one follows the politicians will be risking WW3.

  7. Looks like Saakashvili is sold, for russian neutrality during Iran invasion, I suppose.

See the link, there is major war fleet moving to the Gulf now.

  8. bottom line is that Georgia is a barbaric undemocratic state who provoked Russia into action. yes they are over reacting, but Georgia started this and now must surrender. The whole thing is of no concern to the US
