  1. Because they are too busy chasing celebrities....Why does Britney make the headlines and not real news??.......its a mad world we are living in and not in a good way.

  2. I've always said the weather was censored!  Here in Washington state,we also have freakish amounts of snow!  I think the news deliberately ignores the severe weather to keep people from panicking!  Do you realize how people will react when they're finally convinced that global climate change is well under way. It'll be the worst wave of panic ever seen! The situation in China is extremely severe!  The US news media is just focused on the rail travel problem, but things are much worse than reported! There could be tens of thousands of deaths in China,if the weather continues to be severe.  If that happens, you'll see a big change in the way global climate change is reported.

  3. Sadly we're treated like morons only interested in celebrity affairs and sensationalist gossip. If "it doesn't affect us",is not scandalous or "sensational",what's there to know? We've become conditioned to scan "News"  stories which  fill up column inches to encourage us to show interest and buy newspapers.Judging the suggested unreported list above,we must assume the effect of the suffering, loss and hardship are reports of "Local" and specific interest only.We should be given the opportunity to read these reports and be made aware of the Geographic locations and conditions affecting fellow members of the planet, and thereby CARE about others. How did the affected people cope with their situation? How would We cope?Would we have to rely on appointed bodies and agencies to "sort it out"?To be "Made Aware" is the first step and that's where EDITORS OF NEWS ITEMS should include all facets of humanity, instead of competing for silly headlines like "page three girls exposed in court".This also applies to television journalism. Please make the News NEWSWORTHY.

  4. You obviously found it, I'm following it too on TV & radio news and in the broadsheets so I'd hardly say its being ignored.

And if you haven't heard of LA NINA you need to take notice because its the main cause of this years heavy snowfalls.

La Nina is the 'sister' to the more famous El Nino. A La Nina formed in late september in the Pacific and is likely to be with us for a while yet. Both La Nina/El Nino have big effects on the distribution patterns of precipitaion - if below zero this obviously falls as snow.

Some news reports on La Nina and this winter below.

  5. remember how water gets into the atmosphere (leading to snow)?

    heat

  6. They did report on the china snow storms and the snow in california.

  7. because no one cares

  8. the media has reported it, even if it was not headlines.

agree with most answers- ie, u probably think global warming is about the earth burning up in fire. it is actually about change in climatic conditions.

and well, were u thinking of sending blankets and food.....sorry cud not understand what your concern was really about, or were you giving some info? in that case thankyou, for enlightening us.

  9. Governments spend far too much money on trying to prove to the people that the earth is gettin hotter. The last thing they want is stories of snow storms in the middle east!!!

Everyone is in on the global warming scaremongering

  10. Because they can't mention in the same article as global warming without sounding like their contradicting themselves.

  11. Did you see that video on youtube with the Laplander talking about the changes he has seen in his lifetime?   Funny thing, predicted by the models, when the temp goes up you get more precipitation.  In winter that means more snow.

  12. People keep bringing up these stupid questions

They take anectodal fact on a day to day or seasonal weather   condition and try to apply it to the big picture

like that it was cold where I live today so doesn't that prove global warming is a hoax?

The ideas of global warming are about long term global trends, not about whether it is raining where you live today or some other equally unintelligent statement.

  13. OMG. You obviously no grasp of the concept of Climate Change, how sad.

I gues that's why some people are now calling it Climate Chaos, for the people who are unwilling to use their brains.

  14. If you know about it chances are the news has reported it... And since I already knew about more than half the list they did... So unless you research the weather around the world compulsively then the question is poorly stated.

  15. Willow, The reason we don't hear much about these weather events, because it doesn't fit into the mold of Global Warming. If the media were to report these stories more people might start doubting that global warming is even occurring.

  16. More often than not, media bias manifests itself in the form of selective coverage.

  17. willow

One problem with global warming is that the concept is so vague in the minds of the people. The critical interpretation is basically how it’s explained in school and the news. However most of the public see global warming connected with the ozone and pollutants which cause harmful greenhouse gasses, etc. therefore investigating and fighting for things like alternative energy (ie. Solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, etc)

Greenhouse gases are real and do contribute to global warming. Think of the different gas layers like ozone (o3) that circumference the globe as the clear plastic on a greenhouse. Longer rays of light from the Sun go in and reflect off different thermal masses bouncing back and creating shorter lengths of energy that cannot exist the plastic barrier. These beams then just continue to bounce around inside the green house until they’re finally absorbed completely (some do escape but very few), thereby warming the greenhouse greatly even in cold temperatures.

Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.

    1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.

    2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet.

It’s pretty easy to see the results..

    Melting ice sheets & glaciers

    Floods & droughts

    Great hurricanes & cyclones

    Seasonal extremes

    Seasonal phenomena’s

    Species extinction

    New & resurgent diseases

There are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest.

I currently own 2 converted h2 vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)

  18. While these occurrence's are rare there not unheard of and in fact most listed above have occurred within the last decade or so before.

  19. Liberal media.

  20. it makes sense.   Even the global warming proponents charts show that the glacial periods start when its still warm.  And glacial periods are marked by heavy precipitation.  The warmth is only allowing more water to evaporate from the ocean and fall on the mountains.  I would say this is the beginning of an ice age, but it could be 1000's of years before there are any glaciers form from snow that didnt melt.

im sorry, but how can people say that cold weather is caused by global warming.  I see it alll the time, and then the proponents just say " Oh, you just dont understand global warming".  It just makes it clear that these people dont even understand the theory that they stand behind so strongly.  All these stupid IPCC reports say it will get hotter, and drier which doesnt happen according to the history of the earth.  It is always hot and wet, or cold and dry.  The EXTREMELY funny thing is, they can see droughts/extreme cold periods in ice cores, and they appear as a relatively thin concentrated layer of ice, with higher dust content.  This indicates that the majority of the ice is formed during non drought periods, meaning warmer, wetter periods.

  21. NEWSFLASH:  They do report on these things.  I've read or heard everyone one of those in media reports, along with Australia having the warmest January ever.

I think you're in the wrong subject area, as this has nothing to do with Global Warming.  Perhaps you should post in Weather-Channel-Conspiracies instead ;-)

  22. Media is covering where it is reachable. Affected may send it to the media agencies to show their report.

  23. Where did you find all these event stories at?

Is there a certain site that reports things happening due to climate change and global warming?

  24. because they dont want to i guess

  25. Um... they do.

    What is your point?

You don't understand how Global Warming works, so just stay out of it, okay?

    Thanks.

  26. We had a death in England and hundreds of people in Engand and Scotland are without power or stuck on roads, but most of this isn't beong reported because temperatures fluctuate naturally, we have no hand in it but they don't report this because then they wouldn't get their GW headlines.

  27. well they do report it, but freaky weather conditions arent really headline news in every country around the world.

  28. Cause you're an idiot.  For some reason people think that the whole world should warm up exactly the same and don't understand basic meteorology.  Take a climatology or even a intro course on geology.  They will explain things that will blow your pea brain away.

  29. they did report some of these but I guess kylie minogue getting back with her ex is way more important to the average british citizen (from page news of a newspaper on sunday)

    Its disgraceful

  30. I reckon you could start a website on bizarre weather happenings; just think of the traffic you'd get!  I've got one about solar power (link below) and it's up above 400,000th on Alexa rankings after 6 weeks (that's not bad).

Weather is on EVERYONE's minds.  If you have a passion for it, build a site about it.  Heck, let me know if you do and I'll do a link exchange with you; it's relevant to my visitors too.

Sorry, I'm really off topic here!

PS: I'm serious.  It would be a great website idea.

  31. Do you think its the coming of another ice age?? I'm peed off cause we've had no snow here in Cardiff for the kids to enjoy!..
