  1. cuz people are too lazy to walk for 10 minutes and would rather pay the gas than to get out and walk...

  2. Will you stop eating if food gets too expensive? People need to get around.

  3. Because fuel injectors inject fuel, not money.

Also, people are idiots and just drive for no reason most of the time.

  4. yes, lets all buy horses and use them to haul our lazy a55es around! thats a great idea! not.... honestly gas would have to get to 10 dollars a gallon before i would walk

  5. need a way to get to work to earn money to pay for gas so i can get to work-

  6. hahhahaha

i was about to make a mockery out of you guys and say "$4 compared to AUD$1.25 here" your gov't's making you pay ransoms on gas, but then I realize you're talking about GALLON not litres. and what's more i found out i'm actually paying even more than you over there...hahaha i'm selling my car.

  7. How would you know, since you stopped driving?

Oh wait.  You DIDN'T stop driving, you're still driving and wondering why everyone else still is. Same reason as you silly :)

It's like when people vote for the transit system, "so other people will take it and get off my freeway".  Doesn't work.  (well nearly every new transit system is an overwhelming success with ridership exceeding expectations, but somehow it doesn't reduce traffic any, go figure.)

My conclusion: Traffic is not determined by fuel prices.  Traffic is determined by drivers' collective tolerance for traffic.  For instance Detroit drivers would never put up with California traffic, they'd stay home, timeshift, carpool, take surface roads, anything but that.  So traffic is not as bad there.

  8. Sweetheart, it isn't the cost of a gallon of fuel that makes the difference. It's the total fuel expense. People will not stop driving at four dollars a gallon, because there are ways to decrease their fuel expense. They can adopt more economical driving habits, they can cut out the unnecessary trips, or they can replace their vehicle with one that gets better mileage. Here's a simple example. Say I drive a vehicle that gets 15 miles per gallon and my total fuel bill for a month is $500. If I replace that vehicle with one that gets 30 miles per gallon, and drive the same amount, my fuel bill for the month drops to $250. That's quite a drop, and I don't have to do anything else. Even the increased cost due to a possible car payment may be offset. If I drive in such a way as to get ten percent better fuel economy, my fuel bill for the month would STILL drop to $450. The deal is, there is almost always a way to decrease your fuel expense that does not involve giving up your car completely. It comes down to personal choice. You can drive an SUV and get 15 miles per gallon, or you can drive a compact car and get 30.
