Why doesn`t America lift the embargo on Cuba?

does racism play a role on this issue? Is it because of hatred? I know how many people with socilaist beliefs got discriminated in my own country after the 60`s just because America wanted so. So I wouldn`t be surprised to hear the hatred still exists.

No, it is not racism.  From what the newspapers have said, there are many Cubans living in the US and they hate Castro and the Communist regime.  They are the ones who are pressuring the US government to do all they can against Communist Cuba.  Many other people do not agree with that decision, but the Cuban people in the US are very strong and vocal in their desires.  I guess you or I would be too if our relatives were arrested simply for not liking Castro.

Its a feud between the Castro family and the family of his first wife, the Diaz-Balarts.

Its because those who ruled Cuba before 1959 have still not forgotten - and they and their families have political power in Florida.

Many of the hatreds in the US have been there for many many years; the Indians, blacks, communists and of course there was also the addition of Castro who was easy for a nation terrified of communism to hate.

The US had this red disease on the US doorstep about whom/what they could do nothing.

Cuba is still there and a popular holiday resort for aot of people here in the UK.

I really wish I knew, I have spent 3 wonderful holidays in Cuba, they are the most beautiful and wonderful people I have ever come across in my life, they expect so little but give so much, why on earth America still has to have embargo's in place in this day and age is beyond me, its nothing to do with racism either.

Cubans in Florida want Cuba to be capitalist.

They promote and support the embargo as a pressure against the regime.

But.... if Cuba becomes capitalist, the country will become a colony of the United States, a colony of Florida,  like Puerto Rico.

Anyway, the embargo did not work.  

Cuba is free......

Free of the United States.

Even with the embargo Cuba is doing wonderful in medicine, education, social security, sports, restoring the old buildings, culture, music, etc. etc. etc.   This is really remarkable.

I do not understand why many people blame socialism and Fidel.   Of course they never mention the embargo.     Pepole in Venezuela live much better than Cubans.  Venezuela has no embargo.   China has no embargo either.

It is very sad that in the present days United States is still promoting embargos against so many countries and also invading countries like in the 16th century.

So do not worry,  there are wonderful countries helping Cuba right now.

Cuba is still communist, therefore the U.S. (well GWB to be exact) wants to avoid Cuba. Cuban communism will end in the near future anyways, so there is a slight possiblity that the embargo will be lifted.

man no way i think it is because our leaders are morons living in florida the embargo seems silly and simply punishment for many families. all we are doing is harming the people of cuba.
